Family Home by Emily Summers Design in Dallas, TX

This historic residence, originally built in 1941 in Dallas’s Volk Estates, is an excellent example of Tudor architecture. However, when a young family and long time clients purchased the house in 2007 the challenge was to bring freshness and light into the existing dark interior and create a backdrop for their adventurous and expanding art collection and infuse a diverse collection of important 20th century and contemporary furniture pieces. The full restoration included updating the kitchen, adding new lighting and hardware throughout the house, resurfacing all of the wood and stone floors, combining separate master baths, and reconfiguring the master bedroom, sitting, study, and closets. Careful attention was given to the selection and detailing of all furnishings, which include an interesting mix of vintage pieces, found in shops and at auctions across the globe, and important modern design.
