Pair of Frank Gehry for Knoll “Hat Trick” Bentwood Armchairs, USA, 1996

By Knoll

Located in Morristown, NJ

Designed by Frank Gehry for Knoll, these Hat Trick armchairs exemplify Gehry’s radical rethinking of structure, material, and form at the intersection of architecture and furniture design. Executed in laminated bent maple, each chair is composed as a rhythmic assemblage of curving wood ribbons: a vertically slatted, crown-like backrest rises above a generously proportioned seat, while integrated armrests flow seamlessly into an expressive base formed by entwined legs and stretchers. The visual language is unmistakably Gehry—dynamic, deconstructed, and sculptural—yet resolved with ergonomic intelligence and functional clarity. Originally introduced in the mid-1990s, the Hat Trick series emerged from Gehry’s long-standing interest in bending conventional materials to their physical and aesthetic limits. Much like his architectural work, these chairs foreground process and structure, allowing the construction itself to define the final form. The result is furniture that reads as inhabitable sculpture, equally compelling in a domestic interior, architectural setting, or design-forward commercial space. Both chairs retain original Knoll underside branding, including “Made in USA” stamp, printed Gehry signature, and date mark 1/19/96, confirming authenticity and period manufacture. Offered as a matched pair, they present a rare opportunity to acquire an important example of late-20th-century American design by one of the most influential architects of our time. Ideal for a design-forward residential interior, these Frank Gehry for Knoll Hat...

Whimsical Postmodern Cardboard Sculptural Chair

By Frank Gehry

Located in Grand Cayman, KY

Postmodern whimsical cardboard sculptural chair from Germany 1980s in brown cardboard and reminiscent of Frank Gehry. The chair is surprisingly ergonomic and comfortable. It certainly adds playful flair and amusement to your space. Condition is good vintage condition with some minimal and acceptable signs of wear. Dimensions as follows: Depth: 22.5 in (57 cm), width: 20 in (51 cm), height: 34.25 in (87 cm), seat height: 17.3 in (44 cm). Having established his own firm in Los Angeles in 1961, Gehry saw a pile of corrugated cardboard outside his office and started to experiment. Inspired by a childhood spent exploring his grandfather’s hardware shop, Gehry set about creating the Easy Edges furniture series, highlighting the strength and versatility of cardboard. “I discovered that by alternating the direction of layers of corrugations, the finished board had enough strength to support a small car...

A365 - Original Blue Painting Abstract Contemporary on Canvas

By Marco Schmidli

Located in Los Angeles, CA

Swiss born artist Marco Schmidli creates minimalist paintings with a contemporary edge. Placing emphasis on process, he lets the mediums naturally manifest within his artwork. “An important aspect of my artwork is the removal of my own artistic hand. Instead of controlling and demanding the paint move and act a certain way, I let the paint naturally manifest and express its pure form/ true colors/ most natural movement.” Schmidli's work is known for its sensitive surfaces and subtle textures. He has developed specialized techniques for applying and layering color, giving depth to his paintings. This 35 inch high by 28 inch wide, and 1.75-inch deep original artwork is an abstract composition in acrylic paint on wood. This artwork is wired and ready to hang. Schmidli uses acrylic paint to create the deep tonality of his colorful works. It is signed and dated on the back. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Schmidli studied photography and fine art in Switzerland and Rome. He worked as a photographer and painter in Zurich and then in 1989 he moved to California. Schmidli has been creating large scale artworks since. He has developed specialized techniques for applying and layering color. His artworks have been featured in the film and entertainment industry, such as fashion photography, celebrity portraits, music videos, films, editorials, and at red carpet events. Schmidli has set a new standard for large scale contemporary abstract works in Los Angeles. His original paintings have appeared in highly respected magazine publications, such as Vogue, Flaunt, and Harper’s Bazaar. His work has also been featured in fashion spreads of iconic international brands such as Nike and Balenciaga. Monumental Custom Granite and Steel Dining Table by Anthony Lumsden, 1970s
Monumental Custom Granite and Steel Dining Table by Anthony Lumsden, 1970s

Monumental Custom Granite and Steel Dining Table by Anthony Lumsden, 1970s

Located in Los Angeles, CA

A jaw dropping monumental granite slab and steel dining table by famed Los Angeles architect Anthony Lumsden - custom designed and crafted for his Los Angeles home in the 1970s. Sleek, modern yet a subtle statement piece, partially due to its large size for such heavy materials, but also for its vibrant deep granite veining which reflects light in a shimmering fashion. *Note, we have this very discounted prior to our upcoming move. Once we ship this table to our new location we will be removing the sale price so take advantage of the incredible deal while it lasts! The thick and large granite slab is heavy with no-doubt, the large chromed steel frame is also very heavy in its own regard - a sign of the quality materials he used. To re-create this staggering piece today would be costly and painfully difficult. Acquiring this dining table, which would also make an incredible conference table as well, is a great opportunity for a collector or architecture aficionado to own something truly unique and special - and something that will stand the test of time. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Anthony Lumsden was a famed American architect most noted for his sculptural futuristic designs with numerous projects in Southern California such as the Tillman Water Reclamation Plant, often seen in Hollywood films and television shows such as Star Trek Next Generation...

"Diamond" Chair, Harry Bertoia, Knoll Ready for Re-Upholstery, USA, c. 1960s

By Knoll

Located in Deland, FL

Introducing a rare authentically vintage "Diamond" chair designed by the influential Harry Bertoia for Knoll. First designed in 1952 for Knoll, the diamond chair was by far Bertoia's most famous and recognized design and formed part of his 5-piece wire-made body of work for Knoll called the "Bertoia Collection". The Diamond chair is characterized by a fluid, sculptural form made from a welded lattice work of steel. In Bertoia's own words, "If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like (a) sculpture. Space passes right through them." The chairs were produced with varying degrees of upholstery over their light grid-work, and they were handmade at first because a suitable mass production process could not be found and that's exactly how the upholstery can be re-done for this chair - by hand. Featuring new automotive-grade, single-stage polyurethane paint, this truly iconic chair is ready for re-upholstery a fabric of your choosing. Harry Bertoia was an Italian-born welder, sculpture and designer who after moving to the US in 1930, began studying design at Cranbrook Academy of Art where he met and befriended the likes of Ray Eames and Florence Knoll. In 1950 he began working for Knoll creating, among others, the now iconic "Diamond Chair" and the "Bird Chair". His work has been internationally recognized for it's forward-thinking approach and it's literal bending of both metal and rules set for Modern design and his work is on permanent display across the globe in such museums as France's Musée National d'Art Moderne. Introducing a rare and limited set of two "Diamond" chairs designed by the influential Harry Bertoia for Knoll. Space passes right through them." The chairs were produced with varying degrees of upholstery over their light grid-work, and they were handmade at first because a suitable mass production process could not be found and that's exactly how the upholstery can be re-done for these chairs - by hand. Featuring new automotive-grade, single-stage polyurethane paint, this expansive set is ready for re-upholstery a fabric of your choosing.
