Life is too short to not Shawarma

Located in Ibadan, Oyo

Shawarma, a delicious culinary delight enjoyed by many, takes center stage in this artwork. The artist playfully emphasizes the word "Shawarma" on the tote bag, highlighting its significance as a symbol of enjoyment and pleasure. This whimsical representation serves as a reminder to relish the simple, gastronomic experiences that can bring moments of happiness and contentment to our lives. "You can't buy happiness, but buy shawarma." These words resonate deeply, encapsulating the idea that true happiness cannot be purchased, but it can be found in the small, fleeting moments of joy. The artwork encourages us to seek happiness in the every day and appreciate the simple pleasures that add flavor to our lives. By celebrating the act of indulging in a beloved food like shawarma, the artist reminds us to embrace the little things that bring us happiness. "Sometimes a sad day is a good day to enjoy life." This thought-provoking statement challenges our perspective on difficult times, suggesting that even in moments of sadness, we can find solace in the small joys that surround us. The artwork portrays a young woman, perhaps caught in a moment of contemplation, choosing to uplift her spirits through the simple act of enjoying shawarma. It serves as a reminder that even during challenging times, we can find solace and pleasure in life's little pleasures. "Life is too short to not Shawarma" serves as a gentle reminder to live fully in the present. It urges us to savor the flavors, experiences, and connections that make life beautiful. In a world that often rushes by, this artwork encourages us to slow down and appreciate the present moment, relishing the delicious tastes and sensations that bring us joy. Food has an incredible ability to bring people together, transcending cultural boundaries and creating moments of shared happiness. The artwork's focus on shawarma as a source of enjoyment underscores the significance of culinary delights in our lives. It invites us to celebrate the diverse flavors and experiences that the world of food offers, fostering connections and creating memories. "Life is too short to not Shawarma" is not just a whimsical artwork...

Located in Paris, FR

Jules Boilly (1796-1874) Portrait of a young man, in uniform, signed and dated 1837 on the lower left charcoal and heightenings of blue, red and white chalk on paper 27.5 x 21.5 cm Framed : 41.8 x 36 cm This drawing is a good illustration of Jules Boilly's own style, obviously very different from his father's realistic acuity. There is something softer, more velvety, lighter, and we can see it clearly in the way he renders the features of this young man. Julien-Léopold Boilly (30 August 1796 – 14 June 1874), also known as Jules Boilly, was a French artist noted for his album of lithographs Iconographie de l'Institut Royal de France (1820–1821) and his booklet Album de 73 portraits-charge aquarellés des membres de l'Institut (1820) containing watercolor caricatures...

Donna Librea, Mixed Media Wall Hanging Drawing

By Alex Beard

Located in Surfside, FL

American painter and author Alex Beard is best known for his elaborate wildlife compositions created in his signature style of gesturalpainting, which he has coined “Abstract Naturalism.” Raised in a family that fostered philanthropy, creativity and exploration, Alex has traveled extensively around the world. The diverse cultures, colors, and climates of Africa, India, China, the Americas, and Australia have profoundly influenced both his professional and artistic practice. While earning his BA from Tufts University, he studied painting and drawing at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In his early twenties Alex moved to New Orleans to continue his formal training at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. Fueled by curiosity about the cultures and wildlife he had been exposed to in his early years, Alex has spent much of his life traveling to the some of the world’s most remote wildlife outposts - paintbrush in hand. His time in nature enables him to continually hone his style – creating complex compositions in which abstraction and figuration collide, while exploring themes of cultural and environmental interconnectivity. Alex’s work figures prominently in several private and public collections and he has exhibited extensively throughout the United States, including solo exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and abroad in Hong Kong. An impassioned conservationist and philanthropist, in 2012 Alex established The Watering Hole Foundation – a public charity engaged in saving endangered wildlife and preserving their environments. His documentary, Drawing the Line, fused his artistic talent with his dedication to preservation, chronicling the plight of the endangered Wild African Elephant, as seen through the eyes of a conservationist artist. In addition to producing a series of short films, Alex has authored and illustrated a critically acclaimed trilogy of storybooks published by Abrams. The series, Tales from the Watering Hole, includes The Jungle Grapevine (2008), Monkey See Monkey Draw (2009), and Crocodile Tears (2010). Along with other New Orleans artists Raine Bedsole, Dr. Bob, George Dunbar, Mitchell Gaudet, Alan Gerson, Thomas Mann, Steve Martin, James Michalopoulos...
