Snow Dream Pink, The Dream Art Project
Snow Dream Pink, The Dream Art Project

Snow Dream Pink, The Dream Art Project

Located in New York, NY

The photograph is available in three sizes. The print is proposed as a face-mount; it is mounted to acrylic at the front and Dibond at the back. It is ready to hang with a metal bracket on the wall. In "Snow Dream Pink," Anne Valverde intertwines the serenity of a winter landscape with the subtle vibrancy of neon art. The work captures a moment of stillness as dusk drapes the snowy scene in a blush of pink, while the word 'dream,' spelled out in neon, casts a warm glow across the cold ground. Valverde's signature use of neon text as an integrated element of her compositions is evident as she delicately places the installation within the natural environment. The glowing letters stand in gentle contrast to the twilight hues, a beacon that seems both a part of the landscape and a distinct echo of human presence and creativity. With the snow-capped mountains and frosted trees as a backdrop, the neon sign does more than illuminate; it inspires. It serves as a call to pause, reflect, and embrace the possibilities that dreams represent, even amidst the quiet slumber of winter. "Snow Dream Pink" is a visual symphony of contrasts — the warmth of the neon light against the cool snow, the soft sky against the crisp outlines of the forest. It's a testament to Valverde's skill in creating spaces where light, colour, and text invite the viewer to a place of introspection and wonder. Since 2015, Valverde has been working on a neon light installation project in several countries, which she materialises through photography. The DREAM ART PROJECT Her portfolio “City Icons” in 2008 brought her work to public attention. A series about Iconic Monuments from Major cities like Paris, New York, Hong Kong, London, Dubaï… Writing with Neon brings together two passions for Anne Valverde: light and words thus incorporating her main medium of expression: Photography. Valverde brings artificial light to areas where electricity is absent, creating a dissonance in the landscape and an unexpected and dreamlike light, creating a new message, independent from preexisting signs and words. Valverde’s first message is "dream", as she invites the viewer to go past reality and reflect on open spaces for escape in a complex and tormented world. Some themes are recurring: an amused gaze on social media omnipresence, hyper-connectivity or even office language shortcuts. This contemplation of the natural landscape suddenly opens up to a perspective on social evolution. By inserting neon lights in her photographs, she initiates a return...

A fan of photography since her early childhood, Mizrakli graduated from Yeditepe University in Istanbul, Interior Decoration Department, and continued her higher education in London, where she started out her work as a photographer. Later on, she moved to New York to further develop her career as a photographer and enrolled in classes at the Photography Department of the New York Film Academy. She received a Master’s Degree in photography in Los Angeles, where she is currently based. Mizrakli has conducted many shooting sessions for Mica Studios and Bullet Magazine in New York and had two solo exhibitions in Los Angeles. She has recently participated in the Contemporary Istanbul Exhibition (November 2013). In some of her black and white works she uses the human body only as a pictorial sign in order to create almost abstract works. First made anonymous, the female model is then cloned and circularly multiplied. The result is a kind of wheel in which the repeated human body gives birth to a new, seemingly vegetal or mineral structure. Thus, the human element seems to be transformed into different other natural...

Rays of City Light, fine art photography on maple wood, yellow and orange NYC
Rays of City Light, fine art photography on maple wood, yellow and orange NYC

Rays of City Light, fine art photography on maple wood, yellow and orange NYC

By Hugo Garcia-Urrutia

Located in Dallas, TX

Part of the “Wooden Postcards” series by husband and wife team Hugo Garcia-Urrutia & MK Semos, "Rays of City Light" is shot using cross-processed medium format film and a Holga camera. The imagery is a vibrant New York City street scene, showing an iconic yellow taxi cab and abstract orange patterns and "rays of light" emulating from the buildings. The frames are manually juxtaposed inside the camera to create “rays” emulating from the urban chaos of taxi cabs and skyscrapers. Urrutia crafts the substrate from white oak flooring, with the natural wood grain becoming an essential element of the composition. The choice of white oak, with its natural grain visible through the film overlay, reinforces a sense of history and urban grit, allowing the wood itself to become an active part of the composition. HUGO GARCIA URRUTIA Hugo Garcia Urrutia is an interdisciplinary artist, interested in the cross-pollination between art and architecture. A graduate and active member of the Architectural Association in the United Kingdom, Urrutia’s work creates a distinct spatiality located at the interstice of art and architecture. His work explores and uses the technology for design and fabrication, with a sensitive and conscious reminder of the creativity of human endeavor. Urrutia graduated from the Architectural Association in 2013, earning a Master of Architecture in the Design & Make programme. In 2000, he graduated from Texas Tech University, with a Bachelor of Architecture and Design and received the 2000 Outstanding Thesis Award. In 2004, he founded Decorazon Gallery in Dallas’ historic Bishop Arts District where he directed, curated and exhibited numerous art/architectural exhibitions for national and international artists. His personal artwork has been exhibited in the United States, United Kingdom, Thailand, Colombia, and Hong Kong. His participation in art and architectural competitions and public projects include; the AIA Cincinnati, where he received the Design Award for the 2000 National Urban Poetry I competition and the 2005 ARQUINE - International Architecture Competition in Mexico City. His art installations – The Mexican Tsunami, and Making a Killing – have both been featured at the Art Santa Fe 2010 Contemporary Art Fair, curated by Charlotte Jackson, and University of Dallas and the McKinney Avenue Contemporary (MAC) in Dallas curated by Charissa N. Terranova. Together with the AA-DLAB 2012 team, Urrutia presented the Fallen Star at the Architectural Association Back Member’s Room. MK SEMOS MK Semos is a Greek-American artist whose work is deeply rooted in her passion for storytelling. Raised in Dallas, Texas, her artistic journey began at the Booker T. Washington School for the Performing and Visual Arts and later at the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned degrees in photojournalism and photo illustration. It was in New York City during the vibrant 1990s that her artistic vision crystallized. Captivated by the city's energy, Semos photographed its dynamic urban landscapes and eclectic people, using her SL 66 Rolleiflex camera to capture movement and emotion. Even after three decades, she finds endless inspiration in the city’s pulse, describing it as an "endless source of inspiration." Semos’ work spans travel, portraiture, and environmental photography, with her mastery of the Holga camera earning her recognition in publications like New York Magazine, Business Traveler, and Timeout NY. Alongside her husband, Hugo Garcia Urrutia, she co-founded DeCorazon Gallery, showcasing global artists and exhibiting her own works in prestigious art fairs around the world. Semos also serves on the board of the Association of Women Art Dealers...

Golden Fleece, Upstate New York

By Patricia Heal

Located in Hudson, NY

Listing is for UNFRAMED print. Inquire within for framing. Edition of 10. If the exhibition piece is sold or the customer orders a different print size, the photograph is produced upon purchase. Please allow two weeks for production. Shipping time depends on method of shipping. Price is subject to availability. The Robin Rice Gallery reserves the right to adjust this price depending on the current edition of the photograph. ABOUT: In her ninth solo show at the Robin Rice Gallery, veteran artist Patricia Heal documents her visual narrative of their enchanted home in upstate New York. Hidden within untouched forests lies Peabrook, a babbling brook running through the property. The classic architecture of the house is offset by uniquely quirky interiors designed by the English-born Patricia and her husband, Anthony Cotsifas, which generate an otherworldly existence within the estate. “Peabrook is my Neverland,” Heal states, in reference to J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan. “It is a fictional place often described as a metaphor for eternal childhood.” Heal hopes that, with just a visit to the gallery and a little imagination, you, too, can see Peabrook. Her use of the large format, now-extinct Polaroid film for her black and white photographs, and the warm soft colors found in many of the other pieces of the collection, contribute to the sense of antiquity and fantasy surrounding Peabrook. The whimsical subject matter, including mythical creatures and extensive taxidermy, complete the “magical” representation of Heal’s home that she strove to depict. The simply framed 4” x 5”, 5” x 7” and 8” x 10” photographs sit within large mattes, in keeping with the classical quality of her images. “I really wanted to work in film again, and this project seemed the right one to do it with,” says Heal, who lists Sarah Moon and André Kertesz as artistic inspirations. The dark and mysterious invitational image, “Willow”, depicts a portrait of a hooded woman, her downward gaze partially obstructed by the soft branches of a fern from the surrounding garden. The earth-toned image contains the unpredictable streaked effect of developed instant film. In another image, entitled “Sitting Room”, we see a positive image of a film negative. Most notable is the hanging rhinoceros head towering impressively over two antique sitting chairs. The rhinoceros head is an art piece made of resin; Heal says that she does not condone hunting, and collects taxidermy as homage to the animals. Taxidermy can found throughout her home, including a raven standing alert upon one of the aforementioned chairs in her living room. Patricia Heal was born in England, where she studied art and theater. After receiving her degree in photography, she moved to New York City. Currently, Heal works for leading editorial and commercial clients, and shares a studio with her husband, fellow photographer Anthony Cotsifas, and their bulldog, Moses. She has received numerous awards, including the Society of Publication Designers Award for Photography, the Communication Arts Photography Award, a Nikon/PDN Award, the IPA Lucie Fine Art Award, and a Fuji Film Promotion...

ABOUT In this exhibition, Mindaugas Gabrenas invites us to reflect on the poetics of place through his lyrical and surrealist imagery. His hand-printed silver gelatin prints reveal abandoned regions, wild coasts and strange territories from Lithuania to Scotland to America. As a scientific innovator, he uses unique techniques and unconventional materials in order to create his whimsical, dream photos. In “Spinning The Wheel”, stars trace the sky in a curved motion and meet the water below creating a sense of the infinite. As Gabrenas explores and captures landscapes through very long exposures, he actually meditates and reflects on the world around him encouraging his viewers to imagine themselves within the landscapes and dream with him. In another image “Dream About an Empty House”, that was taken in Lithuania, we see a young girl from behind in a red polka dotted dress as she faces an abandoned home. Using his handmade camera he constructed by merging two cameras—a Kiev 88 and a Kodak Duaflex II. The viewfinder of the Duaflex serves as an additional filter on the lens of the Kiev 88, which is fixed to its body with several macro rings. Before shooting the film, he wraps it in black rye bread and waits several days for the mold to grow onto the film. The combination of these two techniques creates a sense of motion around the central figure. “Alternatives”, our invitational image, pulls us into Gabrenas’ world. The focused close-up and abstracted view of train tracks distorts a familiar shape into a strange and unusual form. The tracks lead you in the distance, a blurry city of New York. The ironic lack of human life in New York City conveys a mystifying sense of place. In “Something With a Head”, we’re taken to the Lithuanian seaside where silhouetted figures stand on sand dunes watching...
