"La Russe" eglomise from the famous "Sensuality" Series by Vladimir Clavijo
Located in Palm Beach, FL
In this project, Vladimir Clavijo-Telepnev draws a line between sensuality and explicit sexuality in depicting a woman's body. Modern photography offers two main approaches to the subject: a provocative sexuality and an impassive perception of a plastic form. As a matter of fact, aggressive approaches are increasingly predominant in taking photos of a naked body. For example, paparazzi are keen to shoot women with a candid camera in bed, bathrooms, etc. Characteristically, Vladimir rejects using bright colors and deliberately limits himself in methods of expression. All the characters are shot sitting back to the viewer, and the sensual message is conveyed through fine outlines, plasticity of a woman's body and definite parts of the background. In the Film Divas project, the portraits are given in the form of a definite film symbol, while Sensuality is a sort of a poster imbued with sensuality. In his portraits Vladimir uses still life elements, which are helpful in revealing the objects: a woman's back, a child sitting next to her, flowers, a hand with a string of pearls on an opened book, a branch of winter berries against the background of home-made open-work fabric. Sensuality presents expressive and vivid images of young women. In their midst you can see a girl in a carnival mask with expensive rings...

About the Artist: ALEX BOYD Alex Boyd's images represent a major addition to the tradition of modern landscape photography" – Robert Macfarlane, Author Alex Boyd is a landscape and documentary photographer, printmaker and writer. His work is primarily concerned with the Scottish landscape. As a photographer his work examines the role of early Scottish landscape photographers, often using antique processes such as the Victorian wet-plate collodion process using antique cameras in mountain environments. He is best known for his conceptual and figurative landscape photography which explores concepts of Scottish identity through historical and contemporary romanticism, neo-romanticism, Romantic nationalism and Spirit of Place. His work is largely concerned with depictions of the Celtic landscape, conservation and remote places, and is often characterised by its stark, poetic and introspective qualities. In 2019 he was awarded a Daiwa Foundation Scholarship to work and photograph the mountains of the Japan Alps centred on Mount Yari as well as shortlisted for the Hariban Award. He was the Mountain Photographer of the Year at the Kendal Mountain Festival in 2013, the UK’s largest mountain festival. His work on the Cuillin mountains on the Isle of Skye as the Royal Scottish Academy’s artist in Residence is in several National Collections. His work has been widely exhibited internationally with solo exhibitions at the Scottish Parliament, as well as group exhibitions at the Royal Academy, Royal Ulster Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy. His work is held in the collections of the National Galleries of Scotland, The Royal Photographic Society, the Royal Scottish Academy, the V&A in London and the Yale Centre for British Arts in the USA. His first book St Kilda – The Silent Islands was recently shortlisted for a Saltire Award. His second book The Isle of Rust, a collaboration with writer Jonathan Meades was, like his first book, named as a photography book of the year by The Scotsman. He is a Fellow of the National Library of Scotland, The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, The Ballinglen Arts Foundation, and the Royal Society of Art. He is currently working on a PhD on Scottish Photography at Northumbria University, a selection of new books on The Faroe Islands, The Outer Hebrides. A collection of his Scottish and Irish collodion work is due out in 2021 as well as a solo exhibition ‘Hesperus’ at Stills, Scotland’s Centre of Photography, in June 2020. White Buddha - Stained Glass
Located in New York, NY
One of a kind Buddha made by hand of glass with cement on wood. No frame needed. NYC based artist, Grace has been honing her skills in glass mosaics since 1998. Originally inspired by the mosaic art found underground in subway stations, Grace experimented with shapes and patterns to practice and perfect her glass cutting techniques and assemblage. Her evolution into representational work has allowed her to create pieces that are deeply detailed and realistic, including portraiture and familiar imagery. Grace’s passion for color and instinct for harmonious combinations further adds to the appeal of her art. Grace has had multiple solo and group shows throughout New York and has collectors from all around the world and often collaborates with architects and interior designers in creating site-specific work and custom installations. Small works can be found in retail shops throughout the city. ARTIST STATEMENT Upon my very first exploration of cutting glass and building a mosaic, I realized it required tenacity. The span between the start and finish of a project is never quick and easy. It depends on focus and diligence, and it’s what attracts me most to this medium. As a mosaic artist, my attention is centered on piecing together materials to make art that is visually appealing both for its subject matter as well as its aesthetics. My influences are the structures and symbols I see around me everyday in NYC. Parts of the city such as buildings, water towers, bridges and sewer covers are often the impetus for a project. My travels through the subway tunnels, streets and parks also lead to inspiration. I particularly love the accessible art underground; those magnificent, colorful and bold mosaic designs that brighten up our subway platforms. Works of art that are often rushed passed, but remain ready to be admired and steady in their function. Additionally, I have an inclination to study faces. I look at a subject and see the shapes and shadows that create them. I relish the process of taking their image apart to input color and texture into the tones I see. The use of color and how colors are combined are the most significant decisions in my work. Working with a variety of materials that include stained glass, ceramic figures, window glass, mirror and cement are the force from which my designs are created. Glass is scored, broken and nipped down into the pieces I desire to compose the whole. I work quite deliberately, concisely employing both traditional mosaic methods with innovative techniques. Mosaic making has a long history and tradition and I always want to honor that in my work. Part of that homage is to build upon that base by creating and using materials in a unique way. I often combine my glass with paper, foil...
