Located in San Antonio, TX

Halbert (Born 1957) Texas Artist Size: 20 x 30 Frame: 33 x 40 Medium: Graphite Drawing "Pushing Horns" HALBERT - Biography Halbert was born and raised in North Central Texas, and early on developed an interest in portraying the horses, cattle and every day occurrences of the west, in pencil. Eventually Halbert became a partner in a large ranching operation, which kept him away from his art for many years. A few years ago, he picked up a pencil and began to pursue his dream of becoming a professional artist. " I believe my passion and love of horses and the western way of life show in my work. I thank God for this gift which allows me to share with others what I truly enjoy. " Halbert credits Texas artist George Hallmark for recognizing his talent and encouraging him to pursue his calling. Halbert has participated in many Art and Museum Shows across the country including Cheyenne Frontier...

Characters from the Sketchbooks (from September Storm plus Self Portrait)

By Jackson Lee Nesbitt

Located in New Orleans, LA

This is a page from the artist's sketchbooks. Six pencil drawings show figures that might have been in preparation for future lithographs, Certainly the woman with the umbrella could have been an early iteration for September Storm. There is also a self portrait of Nesbitt. Clearly the works are authentic if unsigned. Provenance: from the Nesbitt studio. From workers wrestling with heavy machinery to a lone horseman traveling down a rut-filled country road; from the animated crowd at a livestock auction to the dignified worshippers at a serene Sunday service; Jackson Lee Nesbitt chose to represent the essence of humanity and the nobility of ordinary folk striving to get along as best they can. He studied with Thomas Hart Benton and John Demartelly...

Growing Pains

Growing Pains

By Chikako Okada

Located in Burlingame, CA

Chikako Okada’s autobiographical works of art bridge traditional realism with magical realism and surrealism. The artist uniquely addresses questions of the human condition through her meticulously detailed, and patterned imagery. The work is mesmerizing, rich in symbolism, and reference feminine power, vulnerability, sadness, longing, and desire. Often featuring adolescent girls and boys that are mysteriously posed, the artist leaves the circumstances of her subjects to the viewer's interpretation. Chikako Okada is inspired by the paintings of European masters, Mexico's Frida Kahlo, and the American surrealists. The drawing is 23 1/4 X 18 1/4 inches. Professionally matted and framed in a museum quality rose gold wood...
