Derek Harrison's (US based) "Sam" is an oil painting that depicts a nude female model with pink hair and shaved sides. "Sam" is a secondary market work with one previous owner. Artist Biography: Derek Harrison has worked as an artist almost all of his life. It all began with experimental art in various mediums. These ranged from watercolor to spray paint, tattooing, illustration and eventually to oil painting. A full spectrum of mediums experimented with as an artist beginning to learn his craft. In early 2010 Derek began taking workshops with very accomplished painters. This exposure opened his eyes and mind to what the possibilities are in the fine art world. After a very short amount of time, Derek began to take an extreme interest in classical/traditional art. This interest would lead him to study at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art. After formal training, many classes and workshops outside of the school and a very important session of weekly classes with artist Jeremy Lipking, Derek Harrison has become one of the most exciting new talents in the field of representational painting. He has shown in galleries all over California and as distant as Amsterdam. His paintings sit in many collections across the country including musician Richie Sambora...

Grapes and Jug - original realism still life painting - contemporary Art
Located in London, Chelsea
This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online. "Grapes & Jug" by Heidi Von Faber immerses the viewer in a world of soft light and elegant simplicity, capturing the essence of ripe, fresh grapes in a beautifully realistic composition. In this original still life, painted with acrylics on linen, a glass jug filled with a pale, translucent drink takes center stage. Inside the jug, a few grapes float serenely, their greenish-yellow hue mirrored by the drink itself. To the left of the jug, a small bunch of grapes rests on the rustic wooden surface, their forms subtly highlighted by a gentle light. The accompanying glass on the right, partially filled with the same liquid, completes the serene scene. The light source casts soft, natural highlights on the grapes and the glass surfaces, creating a delicate interplay between light and shadow. The deep black background contrasts dramatically with the light wood table, enhancing the scene's timelessness and purity. Heidi Von Faber’s attention to detail is evident in the precision of the reflections and the transparency of the glass, skillfully capturing the texture of the fruit and the coolness of the drink. Signed and framed, the painting exudes an aura of calm, inviting viewers to appreciate the quiet beauty of everyday objects. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, “Grapes & Jug” is available for acquisition at Signet Contemporary Art in Chelsea and online, offering a timeless celebration of natural simplicity captured in acrylics on linen. Artist Biography: Rebecca is a still life artist based in Tunbridge Wells, whose practice approaches subject matter with a classical technical style. Having attended Maidstone school of art Rebecca went on to enjoy a successful career in Television Set design. Rebecca began making a body of work as a full time artist in 2015 and is currently based in Langton Green where she produces artwork from her own studio. Rebecca also enjoys painting portraits and won the 2018 ‘The Artist’s People’s Choice Award’ with the Artist and Leisure painter magazines for her Portrait ‘Colin’. The artist has featured in Galleries and Exhibitions all over the UK including with the Society of Women Artists in London. Inspired by the Dutch masters, in both technique and lighting, she uses many glazed layers and favours ‘Chiaroscuro’ lighting with bold contrasts between dark and light. Working exclusively in oils, her props cupboard is brimming with hoarded silverware, glass, and china teacups...

Located in Soquel, CA
Against The Tide - Oil On Linen Oil painting of the California coastline at sunset in the style of Edgar Alwin Payne (American, 1883-1947). Deep grey clouds pose in the top corners with hues of pink light shining through. Choppy waves crash against deep red and brown rocks, as the whites of the wave hurl upward. The ocean shows tones of green, blue and yellow as the sunlight shines from above. Condition: professionally restored, previous reline onto Masonite with edge and corner wear. New UV resisting, non yellowing varnish applied. Unsigned. Unframed. Oil on linen on masonite. Image: 16"H x 30"W Edgar Alwin Payne was an American painter known for his landscapes, seascapes and western paintings. He was born in Washburn, Missouri on March 1, 1882, and began painting at the age of 14. He began his career by designing and painting scenery for the stage, and murals for homes and theaters. Primarily a self taught artist, he did though study briefly at the Art Institute in Chicago. Recognized as one of California's leading landscape artists, Payne earned the respect of his peers and art critics for his Impressionistic landscapes painted in the plein-air style. Possessing a reverence for nature, he especially loved the mountains. Frequently he took pack horses in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range to the upper lakes to sketch and paint, there he glorified the areas majestic peaks and cobalt blue lakes. Payne Lake was named in his memory. Drawn to Europe, Payne trekked to and painted the elevated heights of the Swiss Alps, the colorful fishing boats of Concarneau Harbor and Brittany, France and the picturesque sailing vessels of Chioggia, Venice, Italy. He spent time capturing on canvas Arizona's Canyon De Chelly and Navajo horsemen traversing the region's arid tablelands. He painted California...

1974 original propaganda poster Cosmonautics Day, celebrated on April 12 - USSR
Located in PARIS, FR
The 1974 original propaganda poster titled "12 Avril journée de la cosmonautique CCCP Yuri Gagarin" is a compelling artifact from the Soviet era, celebrating Cosmonautics Day and the achievements of Yuri Gagarin. This poster is a vivid example of how the Soviet Union used art and propaganda to promote its space program and the broader ideals of socialism and communism. Cosmonautics Day, celebrated on April 12, marks the anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's historic flight in 1961 when he became the first human to journey into outer space. This day holds significant importance in Russian and Soviet history, symbolizing the technological prowess and exploratory spirit of the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The poster features Yuri Gagarin, the pioneering cosmonaut whose name became synonymous with Soviet space achievements. Gagarin's smiling face and heroic pose embody the triumph of the Soviet space program and its role in the space race against the United States. His image is a powerful symbol of Soviet ingenuity, courage, and the potential of socialism to achieve great feats. The text on the poster, "Socialisme et communisme c'est le port spatiale fiable d'ou l'humanité prend d'assaut et dirigera les étendues de l'univers" ("Socialism and communism is the reliable spaceport from which humanity launches and will conquer the expanses of the universe"), reinforces the ideological message that the successes of the Soviet space program were a direct result of its socialist and communist principles. This statement reflects the deep interconnection between Soviet ideology and its scientific and technological advancements. The artistic style of the poster is typical of Soviet propaganda art...

1965 original Soviet propaganda poster To the stars! To the sun! Space Conquest
Located in PARIS, FR
The 1965 original Soviet propaganda poster titled "Gloire au peuple soviétique pionnier de l'espace ! Aux étoiles ! Au soleil !" ("Glory to the Soviet people, pioneers of space! To the stars! To the sun!") is a vivid celebration of the Soviet Union's monumental achievements in space exploration. This poster is a quintessential example of how visual art was used as a powerful tool for political messaging and national pride during the Cold War era. This poster heralds the Soviet people as pioneers in space exploration, a theme that resonates with the intense national pride and optimism of the time. The slogan "Gloire au peuple soviétique pionnier de l'espace !" underscores the collective effort and the unity of the Soviet citizens in achieving these remarkable milestones. The phrases "Aux étoiles ! Au soleil !" reflect the ambitious spirit of the Soviet space program, aiming not just for the stars but for the sun itself, symbolizing limitless aspiration and the pursuit of knowledge. The visual elements of this poster, characteristic of Soviet propaganda art, likely include dynamic images of rockets soaring into space, cosmonauts in action, and celestial bodies like stars and the sun. These images are designed to evoke a sense of awe and inspiration. The use of bold, contrasting colors, especially the iconic red associated with Soviet iconography, would convey strength, vigor, and revolutionary zeal. The historical context of this poster is rooted in the space race between the Soviet Union and the United States during the Cold War. By 1965, the Soviet Union had already achieved several significant milestones in space exploration, including launching the first artificial satellite, Sputnik, in 1957, and sending the first human, Yuri Gagarin, into space in 1961. These achievements were not only scientific triumphs but also powerful symbols of the Soviet system's superiority. This poster serves to reinforce the ideological message that the successes in space were a direct result of the socialist system. By linking space exploration to socialism, the poster suggests that the collective, organized, and state-supported efforts of the Soviet people were crucial to these achievements. This narrative was intended to instill a sense of pride and confidence in Soviet citizens and to project an image of Soviet supremacy to the international community. The message of the poster is clear: the advancements in space exploration are a testament to the strength and capability of the Soviet people under socialism. The call "Aux étoiles ! Au soleil !" embodies the forward-looking vision and boundless optimism of the Soviet Union, aiming for ever greater heights and new frontiers. In summary, the 1965 original Soviet propaganda poster "Gloire au peuple soviétique pionnier de l'espace ! Aux étoiles ! Au soleil !" is a powerful piece of art that encapsulates the pride, ambition, and ideological fervor of the Soviet space program. It celebrates the Soviet people as pioneers of space, linking their achievements to the virtues of socialism. This poster not only commemorates significant scientific milestones but also serves as a motivational tool, promoting national unity and ideological commitment during a critical period in history. Espace - USSR - Cold War - Russia...
