Avocets, Bird Art, UK Art, Landscape Print, Animal Artwork, Coastal Art
Located in Deddington, GB
I saw these Acocets on the North Norfolk coast in a wetlands just below the dunes. They are inspiring birds with a delicate beak and sophisticated wading behaviour. Rob Barnes, artist, is available for sale online and in our art gallery at Wychwood Art. Rob Barnes studied painting and printmaking at Hull College of Art and London University in the early 1960s. He taught etching, screen-printing, lino and related surface printmaking at Keswick Hall College in Norfolk. He later moved to the University of East Anglia, Norwich where he continued teaching in the School of Education until 2006. Presently he divides his time between printmaking and his other passion, playing the violin in local orchestras and for choral performances. In 2017 he began making a small number of sterling silver jewellery pieces following a course at West Dean, Sussex. His artwork follows themes, such as light on water, or shadows in the landscape. Linocuts are hand-printed on an Albion press...

Abstract Landscape India Edition 3/5 Linocut Print Nature Red Navy Primitive
Located in Norfolk, GB
There is a natural and raw understanding in Mukesh Sharma’s prints that both depict, and are influenced by, the Rajastani communities of his home town in rural India. In these Limited Edition fine-art prints, made over a period of twenty years, we are offered the colours of India’s ancient land, the textures, light and the patterns that are everywhere. In the patterns of the arable fields to the jali's (carved screens) in the architecture. This work is however not romantic nor nostalgic but shows a deeper rooted need to offer a visual heritage of place, of where the artist is from and the journey that he is taking. The results are both compelling and honest. Mukesh Sharma, Frenzy M3, Lino-cut chin-coll’e on German Ivory paper Edition: 3 of 5, 2005 Image size: 50 x 33 cm / Sheet size: 79 x 55 cm Unframed 'In this work in particular I feel that a true work of art is the creation of an experience from the interaction between the human self and the outside world' Mukesh Sharma's work: It is often in childhood that paths are set for what we will become. Mukesh Sharma hails from a rural, agricultural village in Rajasthan, India. His Father is a craftsman who fixed and mended farm machinery and understood the working parts in the processes. Sharma followed in his Father’s footsteps, as is often the case in Indian families, but his was not the machines of the fields but the presses of the printing studio. Like his Father, Mukesh Sharma is fascinated with understanding how things work and how he can manipulate the metal in his hands. It is not surprising then that his medium of choice is printing. One of the most physically challenging of all the practices, it can often be physically challenging as well as technical and detailed. In his youth, Sharma would draw with stones on walls and floors. He was lucky his family encouraged this and he is grateful for his early art-training at the Jaipur School of Art but it was at the Baroda Art Department that he was introduced to the great printing traditions of Jyoti Bhatt...

Mukesh Sharma, Untitled, Lino-cut chin- coll’e on German Ivory paper Edition: 3 of 5, 1999 Image size: 50 x 33 cm / Sheet size: 79 x 55 cm Unframed 'This work reminds me of my childhood and early youth, growing up in a village that was full of nature, surrounded by lush green. The towering Aravalli hills left a strong impression on me.' Mukesh Sharma's work: It is often in childhood that paths are set for what we will become.

Dandelion Clocks, Landscape Print, Rural Countryside Art, Tractor Art, Harvest
Located in Deddington, GB
There is a time of year when dandelions abound in the local fields. I often see a red tractor ploughing late crops and this view is inspired by a fine day for dandelions. Ploughings give a sense of direction in cantrast with the dandelion clocks.

Owl, by Daniel Gonzalez
Located in Palm Springs, CA
Signed, titled and numbered from the edition of 50. This illustration is used in the book The Ballad of Huck and Miguel - a re-telling of Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, set in contemporary times and centering around Huck and an illegal immigrant in the urban environment of the Los Angeles River. A young boy looking up at a starlit night sky. Artist statement: “My life has been shared between two countries, the United States and Mexico. I’ve experienced the hard rural life of my parents in Mexico and the dangerous and fragmented life of the inner city. I am a person made up from experiences from both of these worlds. I am Mexican but I am also American and I can slip between these two worlds with ease and exist in both simultaneously. Culture does not honor borders. Culture is about change and growth. My work is inspired by the folk stories that my parents and grandparents have passed on. I have a desire to invent and share my own narratives and vision through printmaking. I want to be able to communicate through the image an invitation to tell a new story to be told or an old one to be remembered." Daniel Gonzalez was raised in Los Angeles, and received his training at the California College of Arts and Crafts. He also apprenticed with Artemio Rodriguez...

Sailing at Blakeney Point, Contemporary Linocut Seascape Print, Sailing Boat Art
Located in Deddington, GB
Sailing at Blakeney Point is inspired by summer sailing trips from Morston to Blakeney Point in North Norfolk. In the foreground are flowers and plants typically found along the marches of the Norfolk coast. A Sailing barge is sailing back towards Morston and Blakeney Point can be seen in the distance . Jo Padfield, printmaker and artist, is available for sale online and in our gallery at Wychwood Art. Jo Padfield is an artist based in rural Norfolk - I love the natural world and my work celebrates nature and the natural environment, using bright vibrant colours and bold eye catching shapes and patterns. After studying at Norwich School of Art I went on to study and work in architecture. As my path in design continued, I have developed my love of colour and graphics in print making to create linocut prints. I like the process of cutting fresh lino with sharp tools and the anticipation of peeling paper off an inked block...
