Tattooed Woman Holding Rose by Andy Warhol
By Andy Warhol
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Tattooed Woman Holding Rose
MEDIUM: Fine Art Lithograph on Paper
IMAGE SIZE: 11" x 29"
EDITION SIZE: Unknown
ARTIST: Andy Warhol
DESCRIPTION: Tattoo Ladies served as Andy Warhol's calling card in 1955. He used this piece as his business card and he would fold it up and drop it off at advertising agencies that he was interested in working with. The woman's pin-up silhouette is filled with logos of companies he hoped to work for. In the center, we see the artist's old-fashioned NYC phone number and subsequent references to the Murray Hill neighborhood he lived in at the time. Not many Pop Art pieces are more iconic than this! This offset lithograph is printed with orange ink on green onion skin paper with horizontal folds. It measures 11 x 29 and is embossed in the lower left-hand corner with the Andy Warhol Art Authentication Board Inc. stamp and the Estate of Andy Warhol ink...

Untitled #1, 1964 from New York Ten
By Mon Levinson
Located in New York, NY
This dynamic work was realized by the esteemed 20th Century modern artist Mon Levinson in 1964. The work was realized in 1964, and printed in 1965 by Chiron Press in New York- the same year that Levinson was included in the seminal Op-Art exhibition "The Responsive Eye", alongside contemporary luminaries such as Bridget Riley. An identical work from this edition resides in the permanent collection of the New York MoMA. This mixed media work consists of an translucent vinyl sheet layered over a print- part etching, part lithograph. The clear vinyl sheet is embossed with a tight pattern of sinuously curved repeating black lines and is subtly raised in places- creating a subtle three dimensionality and dynamic sense of movement. The paper is inscribed with the same recurring pattern of snaking black lines, like a fine filigree, with two weighty black geometric forms that appear to crowd the composition. Smaller geometric forms reside within creating the apparition of negative space in the bone hued paper. The juxtaposition of the delicate texture and colossal feeling forms imbues the piece with a stunning dynamism and tension, helping to explain why Levinson is among the most influential and important artist to come out of the Op Art movement. His work is in the permanent collections of important institutions around the world including the Museum of Modern Art as well as the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Signed by the artist and marked 18/200. The work comes presented in a custom walnut and white gilt frame...

More on Fiorucci:
'The New York City Fiorucci store is the stuff of cultural legend. Located in East Midtown and attracting everyone from Gloria Vanderbilt to Madonna, it was as much a place to experience culture and art during the height of the mid 70s and early 80s as it was a store – with everyone from Keith Haring to Andy Warhol hosting events at the location. Intrinsically linked to the glamorous days of disco, the brand was even name checked in Sister Sledge's “He’s The Greatest Dancer” alongside Gucci and Halston. Marc Jacobs skipped summer school to hang out there, Cher would often wonder in, Maripol designed the space. They had an advert featuring Divine. It was unquestionably cool.
As much as they became a staple of New York culture, Fiorucci’s origins were in Italy – where Elio Fiorucci, the son of a shoe shop owner, began designing wellies in primary colors before officially founding the brand in 1967. The Fiorucci store made its way to New York in 1976 (a London store opened one year prior) and soon earned a reputation for a party-like atmosphere alongside daring fashion mixed with beauty products, vintage clothing, music and home décor. Here, following the sad news...
