In this series the artist represent the force of white that invades with its free forms, strongly over the structure of black. White is the absolute color, the purest, the most perfect, the most luminous. It speaks of innocence and perfection. It springs from the darkness, the mystery and the seriousness of black. This strong contrast of white on black symbolizes light and shadows, like a fight of those two opposing forces that repel and at the same time attract each other, forming a very strong communion between the two. As if they both needed each other to give him place to the other. In her work, Rosario Briones...

He later went on to teach at the University of California, Davis, where he dedicated nearly three decades of his career. This move to the Bay Area, far removed from the art epicenter of New York, played a significant role in shaping an artistic movement known as "funk," a term coined by Peter Selz of the University of California's Berkeley Art Museum in 1967. This aesthetic celebrated the unconventional, "lowbrow," and seemingly unsophisticated aspects of art. Notably, artists like Jim Nutt...

By Loren Munk

Located in Surfside, FL

Loren Munk (American, b. 1951), mixed media painting "Romulus & Remus", signed "Munk '89", 13" x 19" inches sheet, framed 20.25" x 26" inches. In Roman mythology, Romulus and Remus are twin brothers whose story tells the events that led to the founding of the city of Rome and the Roman Kingdom by Romulus. The killing of Remus by his brother, and other tales from their story, have inspired artists throughout the ages. Since ancient times, the image of the twins being suckled by a she-wolf (dog) has been a symbol of the city of Rome and the ancient Romans. The artist Loren Munk (born 1951) is primarily known for his YouTube nickname James Kalm as an uploader of videos about New York exhibitions, amongst others. He presents himself as a maker of contemporary paintings for several decades and of cubist paintings of urban imagery. Munk has received accolades for his drawings and mosaics. He differs from traditional mosaic artists by the manner in which he incorporates glass into his decorative paintings. His unique and innovative use of materials such as mirror, gold-leaf and glass mosaic affirmed him as a founding force of Kitsch Art and a leading member of New York Neo-Expressionism. Munk's work debuted in SoHo in 1981 with a double show at J. Fields Gallery and Gabrielle Bryers. Since then, he has overseen an international career. In addition to exhibiting in Brazil, France, Germany and the United States, Munk has received national and overseas, public and private commissions. He is well represented in important collections throughout Europe, South and North America and the Middle East. Most recently, Munk has been producing a series of paintings which tackle the subject of art itself through a historical and diagrammatic lens. Munk documents the New York art world in YouTube videos, using the name James Kalm. Shipping Procedure FREE Shipping Worldwide Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, this is not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) "The Two Kinds of Life" is a thought-provoking artwork that eloquently portrays the intricate tapestry of existence, emphasizing the interconnected nature of all living things. The painting explores profound themes such as the value of life, the significance of our actions, and the inevitability of mortality. In this artwork, the artist uses a blend of vivid and muted colours to represent the dual aspects of life: vibrancy and vitality on one hand, and the somber inevitability of death on the other. The vibrant areas of the painting might illustrate flourishing life, symbolizing joy, growth, and the potential for positive impact. These sections are interwoven with more subdued tones, representing the finite nature of life and the quiet approach to the end. Through "The Two Kinds of Life," the artist conveys a message about the importance of making a meaningful impact while we are alive. It suggests that despite the inevitable end, the true measure of our lives lies in the legacy we leave behind, the lives we touch, and the positive changes we bring about in our world. This duality invites viewers to reflect on their own lives and consider how they can contribute to the world in a meaningful way before their time comes to an end. In essence, "The Two Kinds of Life" is a poignant reminder of our mortality and a call to action. It urges us to appreciate the preciousness of life, to live fully, and to strive to make a positive difference, ensuring that the impact of our existence reverberates long after we are gone. This artwork not only captures the beauty and complexity of life but also serves as an inspiration to embrace our capacity for change and to live with intention and purpose. Where is Paradise? - Large Framed Mixed Media Glass Painting Swimmers Divers

By Giuseppe Beddru

Located in Los Angeles, CA

Reminiscent of the Fauvist movement and Italian classicism, Italian artist Giuseppe Beddru’s bold outlines, dynamic brushstrokes and contrasting use of color make his work visually exciting. His work is extremely personal as well, drawing upon the Arab presence on the island where he grew up and his own Italian heritage. His paintings are indicative of self-discovery and emotional awareness, while also focusing on color, composition, and technical skill. This balance of visual dynamics and emotional response is essential to Beddru’s work. Many of Beddru’s multi-media paintings include the visual motifs of classical Greek bas-relief sculpture, flattened within the confines of Plexiglas. Athletes and female portraits in profile are reminiscent of coins and popular classical imagery. After having admired and studied the works of the great masters, Beddru left Italy to continue his practice abroad. This large vibrant one-of-a-kind 62 inch tall by 42 inch wide artwork is painted behind and on top of several layers of Plexiglas. Beddru's pictorial subjects are represented through ink-based mixed media, applied via reverse painting techniques inspired by Italian painters from the seventeenth century. The eye of the observer is simultaneously caught by both a fascinating chromatic balance and the mystery of enigmatic figures who, from the depths of a mythological past, bring secretive symbols to our contemporary present as messages to decipher. This original artwork is framed in a modern, black wood frame. Size and price include the frame. It is ready to hang. The artwork is signed by the artist on the front in white. Free local Los Angeles area delivery included. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. The artist represents vibrant and beautiful characters that populate his artistic world and speak up loud to make their voice heard. His international exhibitions include highly ranked art galleries, art fairs, and museums. His artworks are part of distinguished international private collections, such as the collection of the Saudi Royal Family and notable art collector Graeme Hart (New Zealand). Abstract Beeswax Line Painting Untitled (Study for Līnea)
Abstract Beeswax Line Painting Untitled (Study for Līnea)

Abstract Beeswax Line Painting Untitled (Study for Līnea)

By Mary Early

Located in Washington, DC

Poured beeswax work by Mary Early from her "Study for Līnea" series. "The production, or “pouring,” of beeswax elements has become a meditative process that is integral to my art practice, serving as an observation of time, materials, and space. The raw beeswax I use has taken its form at the end of a long series of natural processes followed by a manufacturing process, and once it is in my hands, the studio becomes a factory. I apply my own methods of transforming the material by casting the beeswax into three-dimensional forms. Once I have fixed both a place and a time in the future for a potential installation, I begin to determine how the beeswax lines will take their aggregated shape in that space and, simultaneously, how many lines might be manufactured for that particular space in the amount of time available." Mary Early (born 1975, Washington, DC) lives and works in Washington, DC. She studied visual art, film, and video at Bennington College, and her work has been exhibited at the United States Botanic Garden, Washington Project for the Arts, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Second Street Gallery (Charlottesville, VA), Hemphill Fine Arts (Washington DC,) the Austrian Cultural Forum (Washington DC), Galerie Im Ersten (Vienna, Austria), Kloster Schloss Salem (Salem, Germany), Kunstlerbund Tubingen (Tubingen, Germany), and the American University Museum (Washington DC) among other regional and national galleries. Her early work incorporated formed concrete, tarpaper and paraffin wax, fabricated wood structures, and, increasingly over the years, surfaces coated with wax as a method of preserving or concealing an object within. Recent works have relied solely on solid forms cast in wax, abandoning the use of any permanent armature. Temporary installations are guided by schematic drawings and plans, which then serve as a permanent record. In 2014 she exhibited her first large-scale installation of wax lines at Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville, VA, followed by temporary installations in response to various historical sites in Salem, Germany (2016) and Tubingen Germany (2017). In 2017 she participated in the exhibition “Twist-Layer-Pour” at the American University Museum, which included Untitled [Curve], an installation of thousands of beeswax lines assembled on the floor of the museum. In spring 2018 she was commissioned to create a temporary installation at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts, Sun Valley Idaho. This work took the form of two intersecting curtains of hanging beeswax lines bisecting a 12’ foot x 18’ foot room, providing an immersive and enclosed viewing space. Early’s work is included in the collections of the US Department of State/Embassy of Panama, Kimpton Hotels, and the District of Columbia Art Bank among other public and private collections. She is a recipient of the Artist Fellowship Grant from the DC Commission on Arts & Humanities, Washington DC (2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2011, 2009, 2007). Early is the director of HEMPHILL Fine Arts, Washington, DC, and serves on the boards of Hamiltonian Artists and Washington Sculptors Group. She handles the work of contemporary artists and artist estates, including the work of William Christenberry, Colby Caldwell, Hedieh Javanshir Ilchi, Linling Lu, Mingering Mike, Robin Rose, Renée Stout...

This one-of-a-kind vibrant 22 inch square artwork is painted among many layers of Plexiglas panels. This artwork is framed in a modern, dark brown wooden frame. Size and price include the frame. It is wired and ready to hang. The artwork is signed by the artist on the front in white. Free local Los Angeles area delivery and professional installation included. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping also available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is also included. The artist represents those who are considered “different”, those who are rejected because of prejudice or, simply, ignorance. Popular imagery within the context of Greek art history is overturned by atypical, yet vibrant and beautiful characters that populate his artistic world and speak up loud to make their voice heard. Guiseppe Beddru currently lives and works in his studio in Brussels and exhibits internationally on a regular basis in venues spanning from highly ranked art fairs to museums in both solo and collective exhibitions. His artworks are part of distinguished international private collections, such as the collection of the Saudi Royal Family and notable art collector Graeme Hart (New Zealand).
