Wire Paintings

This abstract work by Chicago artist Patrick Fitzgerald is one of a series of “track paintings” that materialize the imagined tracks navigated by his miniature soap-box car sculptures. Inspired by slot-car racetracks, each painting depicts a meandering, yet cyclical path that twists and turns upon itself in an endless loop. Dynamic and whimsical, Aron Hill’s mobile is a joyful contemporary kinetic sculpture. Three separate discs are covered in a curated collage of shapes and brilliant colours. This compelling abstract painting was realized by the esteemed Spanish Painter, Senen Ubina, circa 1975. It features a square brass plate with demilune forms cut out of the center. The plate has been painted in a rich aubergine hue exhibiting a rich impasto. A wire traverses the negative space in the center, continuing outwards on either side in a painted line. Streamlined forms in dove grey protrude from each side, while arch-like forms in slate gray frame the central plate on top and bottom. Inspire by minimalism and trompe l'oiel, this piece offers a subtle palate and dynamic composition, making it as visually compelling as it is versatile.
