Frank Nelson Wilcox (American, 1887-1964) Fog over North Beach, Percé Rock, Gaspé, Canada, c. 1929 Watercolor on paper Signed lower left 13.75 x 20 inches Frank Nelson Wilcox (October 3, 1887 – April 17, 1964) was a modernist American artist and a master of watercolor. Wilcox is described as the "Dean of Cleveland School painters," though some sources give this appellation to Henry Keller or Frederick Gottwald. Wilcox was born on October 3, 1887 to Frank Nelson Wilcox, Sr. and Jessie Fremont Snow Wilcox at 61 Linwood Street in Cleveland, Ohio. His father, a prominent lawyer, died at home in 1904 shortly before Wilcox' 17th birthday. His brother, lawyer and publisher Owen N. Wilcox, was president of the Gates Legal Publishing Company or The Gates Press. His sister Ruth Wilcox was a respected librarian. Banksy Barely Legal Set of 6 Screen Prints, Unsigned, 2006, Pest Control COA

By Banksy

Located in Aventura, FL

Banksy's Barely Legal is a set of six screen prints on paper named after the Barely Legal exhibition held in 2006 in a warehouse in Los Angeles. From the unsigned edition and each numbered 59/500 (there are also 17 artist's proofs). Published by Modern Multiples Fine Art Editions, Los Angeles, with Pictures on Walls and the publisher's blindstamp. Pest Control authentication certificates included. The Barely Legal Set includes the following: Grannies (22.05 x 29.92 inches) Sale Ends (22.05 x 29.92 inches) Applause (29.92 x 44.89 inches) Trolleys (22.05 x 29.92 inches) Festival (22.05 x 29.92 inches) Morons (22.05 x 29.92 inches) About the Artist: Banksy (British, born 1974) is a contemporary street artist and activist who, despite his international fame, has maintained an anonymous identity. Aimed as a form of cultural criticism, the artist often targets established social and political agendas with his witty illustrations produced with stencils and spray paint in cities such as New Orleans, New York, and Paris. “The art world is the biggest joke,” he said. “It’s a rest home of the over privileged, the pretentious, and the weak.” Although details of the artist’s life are largely unknown, it is thought that Banksy was born in Bristol, United Kingdom, c. 1974, starting his career as a graffiti artist in the city. Better Out Than In, Banksy’s month-long residency in New York during October 2013, featured a man hawking the artist’s paintings for $60 a piece outside Central Park. In 2015, Banksy opened Dismaland Bemusement Park, a temporary art exhibition that functioned as a theme park. After a 36-day run, its workers and materials were sent to the Calais migrant camp in France to build additional housing. Among the artist's most famous stunts include his shredded painting: When a painting by Banksy was sold at auction for $1.4 million in 2018, a mechanism was triggered to cause the artwork to partially destroy itself, resulting in a new piece titled Love in the Bin (2018). The ongoing question as to who Banksy is continued to reach the headlines when in 2017 Robert Del Naja...

A true masterpiece that makes you travel in a glance and that we are proud to present to you! Lucien Boucher 🇫🇷 (1889 - 1971) is a painter, engraver, poster artist and draughtsman who marked his time. He began by studying ceramics at the School of Sevres before being sent to the front in 1914. He was taken prisoner, and that's when he started to draw. First hired as a caricaturist by the weekly humoristic magazine "Le Rire", he will end up designing posters and flyers for Air France. This fantastic work of Lucien Boucher represents, a mythical phoenix flying in front of an Air France plane on a map of Asia marked by pagoda palaces and minarets, an Asian sailboat at sea and the snow topped by Mount...

In excellent condition with strong colors Notes: Provenance: private collection - Aspen, CO. Lithography and hand-coloring by German artist Joseph Wolf (1820-1899) and Irish artist William Hart (1830-1908). Comes from Gould's five volume "The Birds of Great Britain", (1862-1873) (First edition), which consists of 367 hand-colored lithographs. Other contributing lithographers were John Gould and English artist Henry Constantine Richter (1821-1902). "The Birds of Great Britain" is recognized as Gould's greatest work. Gold gilded edges as issued. The common crane, also known as the Eurasian crane, is a bird of the family Gruidae, the cranes. A medium-sized species, it is the only crane commonly found in Europe besides the demoiselle crane and the Siberian crane that only are regular in the far eastern part of the continent. Biography: John Gould FRS (14 September 1804 – 3 February 1881) was an English ornithologist and bird artist. He published a number of monographs on birds, illustrated by plates that he produced with the assistance of his wife, Elizabeth Gould, and several other artists including Edward Lear, Henry Constantine Richter, Joseph Wolf and William Matthew Hart. He has been considered the father of bird study in Australia and the Gould League in Australia is named after him. His identification of the birds now nicknamed "Darwin's finches" played a role in the inception of Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection. Gould's work is referenced in Charles Darwin's book, "On the Origin of Species".

Original 1985 poster by Bulté - Air France Concorde

Original 1985 poster by Bulté - Air France Concorde

Located in PARIS, FR

This striking original 1985 poster by Bulté celebrates the technological marvel of the Air France Concorde, capturing the supersonic aircraft soaring above the clouds against a deep blue sky. Designed to evoke power, speed, and elegance, the poster features a photographic composition emphasising Concorde's sleek, futuristic silhouette, with its distinctive needle nose and delta wings cutting through the stratosphere. The Air France livery, with its refined typography and French tricolour tailfin, highlights national pride in this engineering triumph. Concorde entered service in 1976, flying passengers between Paris, London, and New York at twice the speed of sound, reducing transatlantic flight time to just over three hours. It became an enduring icon of luxury air travel, technological ambition, and Franco-British cooperation. Bulté’s design exemplifies 1980s airline poster aesthetics: clean, photographic realism combined with aspirational imagery. The poster was issued by Air France as part of its promotion of Concorde flights to an elite clientele, reinforcing its position as the pinnacle of commercial aviation. Today, original Concorde posters...

Andy Warhol Bodley Gallery 1957: A rare, 1950s gallery announcement offset illustrated by Andy Warhol on the occasion of: Andy Warhol Golden Pictures: December 2 - December 24, 1957: The Bodley Gallery 223 East 60th St., New York, NY. A scarce, historical Andy Warhol Pre-Pop illustration; highly collectible. Medium: Double-sided offset lithograph in colors, on wove paper, with full margins, before folding. Dimensions: 12 3/4 x 19 1/2 in. (32.4 x 49.5 cm) Good overall vintage condition. Minor signs of aging & handling. Well-preserved. Unsigned from an edition of unknown. Warhol Foundation annotations in pencil on one side. Provenance: The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, New York. Susan Sheehan Gallery, New York. Private Collection, New York. Literature: Kornbluth: Pre-Pop Warhol, no. 66, pp. 164-165. Further background: Warhol’s career began as a commercial illustrator on New York’s Madison Avenue in 1949, during the massive post-war economic boom. His arrival additionally coincided with an extensive change in the motivations and strategies behind advertising, utilizing applied psychology to influence American consumers to purchase products. This stint as an ad man would further his Pop interest in cultural commercialization and start his artistic career; thus began the first chapter of Warhol’s oeuvre. Several of Andy Warhol's earliest exhibitions in New York were at the Bodley during the 1950s, starting with two in 1956. _ Obsessed with celebrity, consumer culture, and mechanical reproduction, Pop Art king, Andy Warhol created some of the 20th century’s most iconic images. Warhol was widely influenced by popular & consumer culture, with this being evident in some of his most famous works: 32 Campbell's soup cans, Brillo pad box sculptures, and portraits of Marilyn Monroe & Mick Jagger, for example. Rejecting the standard painting and sculpting modes of his era, Warhol embraced silk-screen printmaking to achieve his characteristic hard edges and flat areas of color. The artist mentored Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat and continues to influence contemporary art around the world: His most bold successors include Richard Prince, Takashi Murakami, and Jeff Koons. Warhol has been the subject of exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of Modern Art, Tate Modern, and Centre Pompidou, among other institutions.
