Inter-Relation Selfie 204, representational work on paper, gun with flowers

By Seongmin Ahn

Located in New York, NY

Seongmin Ahn Inter-Relation Selfie 204 2015 Ink and color on mulberry paper ------------ The essence of Ahn's work begins from the conception of complicated personal struggles as a spouse, an immigrant and an outsider artist in New York. Through creating process, she contemplate both her daily issues and fundamental matters, thus transferring those into physical representation while asking meaningful questions to her audiences about life as reality, relation between people, spiritual being and transcendence. Ahn is interested in pushing boundaries of traditionalism, thus opening up new dialogue in global context. Through this dialogue she encourage her audience to think about inter-connectedness between tradition and contemporary, West and East, and two contradictory elements. Contradiction, and Paradox is also a main key to understand her works. She uses iconography from Minhwa, Korean folk...

Fiddler - Original Oil Painting by Famed Photorealist Mark Schiff

By Mark Schiff

Located in Boca Raton, FL

Fiddler -- Original Oil Painting by Renowned Artist Mark Schiff 26" x 32" Oil on Linen Original Painting from the Tropicana collection. This is a unique, original painting of which no copies have been made of any sort. One cannot appreciate this painting on a computer screen; in real life, it is absolutely amazing. About Mark Schiff -- Animated by photographs that reflect his personal life, Mark Schiff’s paintings are fueled by what makes him happy. Through his open touch and signature blending method, he lends his artistic perception to the original photographic compositions captured on his Leica. Mark’s creative vision has been alive since he was a boy. As a child he spent his summers observing life as he rode the trolley back and forth to art classes at the Pratt Institute. During his future travels to Europe, Mark’s eye for light and photography merged with his passion for painting at the Jeu de Paume in Paris; which triggered his career in photorealism. Mark is well known for painting objects that people can identify and emotionally connect with. His work is distinctly marked by a rich palette and the luminous range of light he paints into his compositions. Each painting is a true extension of his vision and can take up to 200 hours to complete. Mark Schiff’s work has been commissioned by the well-known brands The Hershey Company and Tropicana. His private collectors include A-list celebrities and also corporate collectors in the US and abroad. Possessing a strong philanthropic nature, Mark donates both his time and works to charitable organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Ronald McDonald House, Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Humane Society and the Special Olympics...

Silver Mini Corkscrew #35

Silver Mini Corkscrew #35

By David Tanych

Located in Napa, CA

Patinaed Steel with Redwood Handle David Tanych has been building objects since his father gave him a saw, hammer, nails and a block of wood at the age of 10. A veteran home and furniture builder, David turned his interest in design and fabrication from the functional and practical to the imaginative and artistic. Interested in welding and the properties of metal, David attended two summer sessions in blacksmithing at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, where he began to connect to a medium much different than wood. Intrigued and inspired by the strength and flexibility of steel, Tanych started using it to construct functional objects such as tables, picture frames, and garden pergolas. As his skill progressed, Tanych began building huge outdoor steel sculptures. Likened to the work of veteran sculptor Claes Oldenburg, Tanych's most recent pieces are big and bold, representing everyday objects such as a skeleton key and matching keyhole, and a set of three jacks and a ball. The results are fun and playful, instantly bringing the viewer back to a time when these items were common place. When complete, the sculptures are acid etched, allowing them to rust naturally and adding a textural dimension to their unique charm. Tanych’s work alters the environment in which they are placed, in a way that could not be otherwise realized. Tanych’s works have been featured in many publications including Architectural Digest, Dwell Magazine, Forbes Life, the Time Square kiosk. His work can also be viewed in numerous public and private collections including Leisureland; Palm Springs Sculpture...

Paris 10:52PM, France

Paris 10:52PM, France

Located in Hudson, NY

Listing is for UNFRAMED print. Inquire within for framing. Edition of 20 CURRENT EXHIBITION - runs through May 6, 2018. Any framed photographs purchased during the show will be after May 6. If the exhibition piece is sold or the customer orders a different print size, the photograph is produced upon purchase. Please allow two weeks for production. Shipping time depends on method of shipping. Price is subject to availability. The Robin Rice Gallery reserves the right to adjust this price depending on the current exhibition of the photograph. ABOUT The Robin Rice Gallery is pleased to present “episodes (without a real order)”, the first solo photographic exhibition by Leonardo Pucci. The opening reception will be held on Wednesday, March 21st from 6pm to 8pm. The show will run through May 6th, 2018. The delicate sensuality and voyeuristic feeling in Leonardo Pucci’s work allows his photographs to act as indefinite episodes, stolen moments in the lives of individuals or couples caught unaware. But the narrative Pucci is most interested in, is the stories his photographs elicit from the piece’s observers rather than the story of his subjects themselves. Shot mostly at dusk or at night, Pucci’s imagery creates a vague tension in his observer: “the idea that you are looking at something you shouldn’t be seeing provokes a feeling of curiosity and emotion, paired with a subtle discomfort or shame”. “However, this turmoil is temporary as the observer’s personal memories take over in the desire to have his/her own story told. Through the artist’s use of strong geometric compositions and his almost three-dimensional contrasting colors, the photographs reveal moments that are usually secretive and hidden eliminating the distance between the observer and the subject. The exhibition’s invitational image “Paris 9:33am” demonstrates Pucci’s synthesis of composition, color, and narrative. In essence, the fine and detailed arrangement of Pucci’s subjects and their environment - the placement and color of a distant window and the stranger therein create a theater in which the observer can play out their own dreams and impressions. Describing his episodes, which have been installed against a dark grey wall, Pucci states, “They are crystallized instants and therefore appear strangely like a canvas that everyone recognizes, adding their own meanings, tales and emotions which go beyond the image itself.” Leonardo Pucci is a self-taught photographer born in Pisa, Italy. He is currently living between Paris and Rome. He was able to nourish his eye for beauty and narrative through his work in fashion at Italian and French “Maisons”, supervising creative and development processes. Leonardo Pucci links his first memories of photography to his father, who would record every moment of their family life. Among his influences, Pucci lists Franco Fontana, Saul Leiter, Merry Alpern, and Philip-Lorca di Corcia. Color, Paris, Men, Architecture, Voyeur, Male...

Antique halberds etching inspired in Venice by Italian leader in printmaker

By Federica Galli

Located in Milan, IT

Le alabarde, Ref. 499 Original etching, signed and numbered. Limited edition of 90. Federica Galli was one of Italy's leading contemporary etchers. She achieved this fame because she was able to interpret views, as Milan and Venice, landscapes and architecture with a poetic and original eye. Moreover she had the foresight to portray the beauty of the great Italian trees with a cycle of sixty different platemarks. In 2021, Milan named a new street after her. Her etchings are in prestigious museums in Europe and America, as well as in many private collections. Her work is protected by a foundation with her name, based in Milan. The etching was exhibited last year in the critical retrospective that the city of Milan promoted and set up to mark the tenth anniversary of her death. Milan's municipality has named a new street to her for the occasion. The many international and accredited critics who have lingered to appreciate Galli's etchings remark on her ability to combine poetry, architectural precision and interpretative originality. Federica Galli has always been able to take a fresh look at all the landscapes and architecture on which she has cast her gaze. NMWA (National Museum of Women in Arts) in Washington conserved the complete Venezia portfolio. Also, her oeuvres are in significant Italian museum collections such as the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, (the same museum where Leonardo's Codex is conserved) and Museo of Castello Sforzesco, both in Milan; di Milano, Ala Ponzone in Cremona. Federica Galli's Biography Proudly present into Google art and Culture A prominent figure in the art of engraving in Italy, Federica Galli was born in 1932 in Soresina - a village just outside Cremona- in the north of the country. Straight after the war, in 1946, she convinced her parents to enrol her at the Artistic Lyceum in Milan. In 1950, she attended the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, from where she graduated four years later with a diploma in painting. She began engraving in 1954 - "Il paese dell'Alberta"- experimenting with etching, a technique she never abandoned for the rest of her life. In 1966 she married the journalist Giovanni Raimondi – editor-in-chief of the Corriere della Sera. During that time she began to embark on a densely packed programme of cultural trips that took her to the most important European cities and to countries where the art of engraving is less deeply rooted. These were also the year in which she matured the conviction that engraving was the technique in which she expressed herself most effectively and started to apply herself exclusively to this art form, producing over eight hundred different subjects. Starting from her early personal exhibitions – the first one took place in 1960 in Milan – she met with the favour of the public and critics alike. In the space of a few years, she could count on the support of some of the most authoritative critics of her time: Franco Russoli, Mario de Micheli, Giovanni Testori – who was to follow her closely until he died - Mina Gregori, Gian Alberto dell'Acqua, Roberto Tassi, Renzo Zorzi, Carlo Bo, Daniel Berger (Metropolitan Museum of New York), Gina Lagorio, Giuseppe and Francesco Frangi, Marco Fragonara, Giorgio Soavi and David Landau (Oxford University). She obtained the most prestigious institutional acknowledgements given to any contemporary artist: she was the first living artist to be invited to exhibit at the Fondazione Cini in Venice - 1987 with a collection dedicated to the lagoon city - ; at the Civic Museum of Palazzo Te in Mantua - 1987 -; at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan - 1988 - ; in the Imperial Archive of the Forbid-den City, Wag Fung gallery, - 1995 -. Collectors of her works include people of culture from Italy and elsewhere, individuals are known for their cultivated passion for the graphic arts, comprising – just to mention some of the most famous: Dino Buzzati...
