Artist Judy Mudd presents an arched doorway in Venice in a detailed impressionistic rendering. Part of her Urban collection pays homage to diverse cultural architecture. She draws enthrallment from the exquisite and cool colors of Italian design. "I wanted to capture the beauty of the accumulation of colors and the patina of the crumbling building before it is lost to history," shares Judy.
About the Artist
For Judy Mudd, creating a work of art means much more than simply reproducing something she sees. “It is more than painting a subject, it is expressing a feeling,†she explains. Judy develops her paintings with thorough reconnaissance work. She goes out on photo shoots in a variety of atmospheric conditions, sketches outdoors, takes notes, and completes color and value studies. From there, back in the studio, she lets the paintbrush guide her. In addition to being a full-time artist, Judy also conducts painting workshops and classes

Giovanni Martino, National Academy of Design* member, was born on May 1, 1908 in Philadelphia PA where all seven brothers and one sister, Filomina, Frank, Antonio, Albert, Ernest, Giovanni, Edmond, and William became painters. They were under the tutelage of their eldest brother, Frank, who in the late 1920s, founded the first commercial art studio, Martino Studios, at 27 South 18th Street.
Besides studying with his two eldest brothers, Giovanni also studied with Albert Jean Adolph at La France Institute, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The Graphic Sketch Club, and Spring Garden Institute in Philadelphia. In his mid teens he accompanied his two eldest brothers to New Hope searching for subjects to paint. In the 1930s, he also started to paint in Manayunk, a hilly mill town along the Schuylkill River. At this time he signed his paintings M. Giovanni.
These colorful impressionistic works proceeded more thinly painted dramatically poetic street scenes of the mill town. These images developed into impasto laden oils in the 1960's with some of the paintings worked with a palette knife.

This canvas is larger at 18 x 21 inches and contains everything that Antoine Blanchard is known for in the Paris Street scene. Just look at the photos. The Boulevard de la Madeleine is one of the four 'grands boulevards' of Paris, France, a chain of roads running east–west that includes the boulevard de la Madeleine, the boulevard des Capucines, the boulevard des Italiens and the boulevard Montmartre. This painting envelopes you in a rainy, fall and cold day shopping down the Boulevard in Paris with bustling horse drawn carriages and warmly lit shop window lights along with street lights telling you it’s almost time for hot a French dinner and a glass or two of wine. I personally grew up in Paris and this painting takes me there every time I glance at it... Wonderful!
