The terrain of the Black Rock Desert, Nevada is an area that I have always wanted to explore. In November of this year, I finally got the chance. The area is sparsely inhabited with the largest town being Gerlach - population of 100.
Humans have inhabited the Black Rock Desert since approximately 11,000 BC.. The large black rock formation was used as a landmark by early settlers and emigrants that initially crossed and settled in the area.
