Rosie Emerson, born in 1981, is a contemporary artist working almost exclusively on representing the female form. Emerson’s figures draw reference from archetypes old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model, each solitary figure, an allegory of her own fantasy. Interested in surface, the interplay between photography and painting. Emerson’s works are playful constructs; Photography is used, not as a device for capturing reality but for creating romanticised optical illusions.
Inspired by her love of theatre, performance, shrines and rituals, she uses lighting, costume, set and prop making, alongside printmaking and painting to create other worldly one off pieces. Her photography is inspired by both the drama of the baroque, and ethereal qualities of Pre Raphaelite works. Other important influences include late medieval and renaissance paintings, Japanese prints, and magical realist literature.
Emerson’s screen-prints use unusual materials including charcoal powder, ash and saw dust to shift the focus of printmaking from accuracy and replication to the creation of unique, hand-finished prints with subtle texture.
She explains ‘By combining photography with painting it allows me to balance energy and precision, and create something, which despite hours of planning will still surprise me in its results.’
Her recent Cyanotype works enable her to montage objects with real size photographic negatives. Using UV light from the sun to expose objects and images directly on to the sensitized surface, the works are often hand painted or gilded with gold leaf. Emerson describes ‘the technique itself has an element of magic about it, it also a wonderful discovery to be able to combine painting, collage and photography in this way’’.
Emerson’s work is widely collected and exhibited both in the UK as well as internationally, through galleries, art fairs and museums. She has also worked with brands and individuals including Harvey Nichols, The Ivy Club, Sony, Triumph Underwear, Redbull, P&O Cruises, and Annoushka jewelry...

David LaChapelle (born March 11, 1963) is an American commercial photographer, fine-art photographer, music video director, film director, and artist. He is best known for his photography, which often references art history and sometimes conveys social messages. His photographic style has been described as "hyper-real and slyly subversive" and as "kitsch pop surrealism." One 1996 article called him the "Fellini of photography," a phrase that continues to be applied to him. David LaChapelle's photography career began in the 1980's in New York City galleries. After attending the North Carolina School of Arts, he moved to New York where he enrolled at both the Art Students League and the School of Visual Arts. With shows at 303 GalleryLaChapelle which also exhibited artists such as Doug Aitken and Karen Kilimnik , Trabia McAffee and others, his work caught the eye of Andy Warhol and the editors of Interview Magazine, who offered him his first professional photography job. LaChapelle's friends during this period included Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat
Working at Interview Magazine, LaChapelle quickly began photographing some of the most famous faces of the times. Before long, he was shooting for the top editorial publications of the world, and creating the most memorable advertising campaigns of a generation. LaChapelle cites a number of artists who have influenced his photography. In a 2009 interview, he mentioned the Baroque painters Andrea Pozzo and Caravaggio as two of his favorites.[23] Critics have noted that LaChapelle's work has been influenced by Salvador Dalí, Jeff Koons, Michelangelo, Cindy Sherman, and Andy Warhol. His striking images have appeared on and in between the covers of magazines such as Italian Vogue, French Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ, Rolling Stone and i-D. Groundbreaking fashion photographer Gleb Derujinsky invigorated the fashion industry with his glamorous, exotic, and often unconventional photographs. Gleb Derujinsky's career as a fashion photographer took hold in the golden age of European haute couture, when Balenciaga and Pierre Balmain were at the top of their game and Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld were designing their first runway shows. Although air travel was still reserved for the happy few, Derujinsky convinced his editors Carmel Snow and Diana Vreeland to send him around the world to photograph beautiful models like Carmen Dell Orefice and his future wife, Ruth Neumann draped in expensive gowns juxtaposed against rough desert dunes or a glittering ocean at sunset. His ideas were revolutionary and they gave rise to the mystique and glamour that is now pervasive in fashion. Derujinsky was the quintessential Renaissance man photographer, award-winning cinematographer and commercial director, inventor, WWII veteran, world traveler, jewelry designer, musician, ski instructor, Ferrari America race-car driver, and champion glider pilot. His passion for photography started at the tender age of six, by ten, he had built a photo enlarger, and as a teenager, he became the youngest member of the Camera Club of New York. Hatay is a visual artist, a healer and a former Rock and Roll photojournalist.
Born in Scotland of a Hungarian physicist/inventor and an English art dealer, she grew up in an international environment. Her father encouraged original thinking and experimentation; her mother nourished her creativity and her intuitive skills. Leaving her home in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, for Munich, Germany, she apprenticed to Bauhaus photographer Frl. Berthe Himmler. The next step was New York City where Hatay began to freelance in all aspects of photography.
It was when she photographed Jimi Hendrix at Madison Square Garden on May 18, 1969 and was inspired by his music that she got a chance to spread her wings artistically. She was initially inspired by his energy, his vision and his originality. "Jimi Hendrix was absolutely amazing - it is not possible to put words to the Experience. He was, and still is, unique. I didn't know at the time I photographed him that he was interested in his music being a healing power. I learned a lot about this aspect of Hendrix about ten years later when I met people who knew him. When they heard how much I was interested in the healing aspects of his music, they shared their stories with me. Nona's experimental techniques were used in her photographs on many other Rock stars, such as Tina Turner, James Brown, and Frank Zappa.

Rosie Emerson returns to her elongated trademark style for the release of a brand new Audrey Hepburn print. Emerson has developed her very own technique to make these to prints using charcoal powder instead of ink, these print have a soft look and light texture to them, the powder is fixed with layers of fixative and also a UV varnish so they are protected for the years to come. Elevating the iconic Audrey Hepburn these prints unite hand painted elements, collaged found wire, diamonds and star constellations all in her monochrome style. A small edition of just 20, each print will vary slightly due to her unique technique, they come signed and edition in pencil and embossed with an artists stamp.
Rosie Emerson, born in 1981, is a contemporary artist working almost exclusively on representing the female form. Emerson’s figures draw reference from archetypes old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model, each solitary figure, an allegory of her own fantasy. Interested in surface, the interplay between photography and painting. Emerson’s works are playful constructs; Photography is used, not as a device for capturing reality but for creating romanticised optical illusions.
Inspired by her love of theatre, performance, shrines and rituals, she uses lighting, costume, set and prop making, alongside printmaking and painting to create other worldly one off pieces. Her photography is inspired by both the drama of the baroque, and ethereal qualities of Pre Raphaelite works. Other important influences include late medieval and renaissance paintings, Japanese prints, and magical realist literature.
Emerson’s work is widely collected and exhibited both in the UK as well as internationally, through galleries, art fairs and museums. She has also worked with brands and individuals including Harvey Nichols, The Ivy Club, Sony, Triumph Underwear, Redbull, P&O Cruises, and Annoushka jewelry...
