Farm to Table

By Maryann Lucas

Located in Sag Harbor, NY

An oil painting of farm-fresh goods laid on a table with a plaid picnic-print tablecloth. Maryann Lucas lives and works in Sag Harbor. She is primarily self-taught but has also received instruction and support from wonderful and generous members of the East End artistic community. Working exclusively in oils, Lucas sets out almost daily to create plein aire landscapes and seascapes. In her studio, she works directly from life and captures the beauty of natural light as it transforms ordinary objects into visual delights. Lucas wants her work to celebrate all that is well with this world and brilliant in this life, despite its pockets of darkness. For me, she says, I know I am in the Presence of something beautiful, when it steals my breath, silences my mind, pushes out everything else and draws me in. I trust That. I use That to guide my hands as I arrange a still life or scan a landscape to determine where to set down my easel. Ultimately, That is what drives me to paint. Becoming evermore skilled as an oil painter is another of Lucas goals. To that end she remains teachable, finding it refreshing and vital for her own growth to paint with others. She has studied with favorite artists including Michael Klein...

Located in PARIS, FR

Born december 19 1958, De Keyzer studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten, Eeklo, lead by professional sculptor Leo De Buysere. In a time and environment where creativity was considered disturbing, rather than being a merit, the young Dirk De Keyzer found it hard to decide in which direction to head with his life. Like so many boys of his age, he was sent out to learn a craft, destined to go to work in a factory. Other horizons would call though, and that's how he ended up in the Royal academy of Eeklo. It was there that he discovered his predilection for bronze. It became more and more obvious that bronze would be the only medium for Dirk to give expression to his inner most thoughts and artwork. Fascinated by great sculptors like George Minne...

Heather Hollis The Name, Is Crush Archival Pigment Print on Hahnemuehle Rag (or equivalent) 2024 Size: 8 x 12 inches (20.32 x 30.48 cm) Edition: 15 Signed on label (to be attached verso) COA provided (issued by representing gallery) *Framing options available. Please inquire. **Other sizes available. Please inquire. This digital creation celebrates the serene majesty of marine life through the intricate patterns and vivid colors of a sea turtle I affectionately named Crush. Every detail — from the textured shell to the gentle movement of the water — reflects the quiet beauty and vulnerability of our oceans. The work serves as a tranquil yet powerful reminder of the precious ecosystems that exist beneath the surface, urging us to appreciate and protect them. Displayed in a home or gallery, this piece brings a calming, contemplative energy and a deep sense of connection to the rarely seen world of underwater wonder. Heather J. Hollis is a self-taught fine art photographer whose work captures the quiet poetry of nature. Rooted in resilience and empathy, her imagery transforms fleeting moments—like delicate fungi blooming on a Missouri tree—into meditations on beauty, endurance, and light. Now exploring both land and sea through her lens, Heather continues to reveal the extraordinary within the everyday. Heather Hollis, fine art photography, sea turtle art...

''La Baigneuse'', Contemporary Bronze Sculpture of an Elephant Sunbathing
''La Baigneuse'', Contemporary Bronze Sculpture of an Elephant Sunbathing

''La Baigneuse'', Contemporary Bronze Sculpture of an Elephant Sunbathing

By Miep Maarse

Located in Utrecht, NL

The optimistic bronze sculptures of Dutch artist Miep Maarse (1945) are a feast for the eyes. Dancing elephants, bathing hippos and playing bears characterize her oeuvre. The images are optimistic in tone and message. Through her images she shows us her positive view of the world and humanity. She shapes her sculptures in a professional and original way. The animals have recognizable human characteristics, which radiate great charm and tenderness. At first glance, this seems simple and charming. The opposite is true. You must have studied man and his behavior extremely well in order to make this translation. A hippopotamus - not a gentle animal at all - transforms into a friendly big lug who dances, dives or acts like an English lord. What is special is that Maarse finds her images so natural that people do not immediately realize that what they are actually doing is not possible. In ''Between the Ears'' the mother elephant with her child between her ears looks so natural and realistic and is so moving and playful. Almost casually, Miep Maarse asks the obligatory question: "How realistic is realistic?" Everyone will immediately admit that her images are not realistic. But what are they then? Surrealistic maybe? Strangely enough, it is obvious to place them in that movement, but everyone feels that something is not right. After all, with surrealism we immediately think of bizarre situations and alienation, while Miep Maarse's animal sculptures radiate something familiar and domestic. Due to the metamorphosis that her animals undergo, they enter the realm of fabulous creatures. The animal sculptures are liberating because the depicted animals have different codes of conduct than the people who imitate them. Miep Maarse received her education at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. ''La Baigneuse...
