(after) Piet Mondrian Art

Dutch, 1872-1944
Piet Mondrian (1872–1944) was a Dutch painter and theoretician, a pioneer of 20th-century abstract art. He transitioned from figurative painting to a minimalist, geometric style, focusing on primary colors (red, blue, yellow), black, white, gray, and horizontal and vertical lines. His art, rooted in nature, sought universal values and aesthetics. Mondrian was a key figure in the De Stijl movement and his work influenced major art styles like Color Field painting, Abstract Expressionism, and Minimalism, as well as design, architecture, and fashion. Design historian Stephen Bayley described Mondrian as a totem of Modernism.

Gonz’s affiliation with Supreme goes way back to the stores beginning on Lafayette Street, NYC. Whenever overseas on skate trips, Mark would often send postcards to the late Harold Hunter and the rest of the crew at “Supream” (his misspelling), featuring his own doodles and musings, some of which would later make it on to items of clothing from the brand. By Ruth Grotenrath
Located in Milwaukee, WI
'O'Tannenbaum' (Artist's #30129) is an original color silkscreen print by Ruth Grotenrath, signed by the artist on verso. Influenced by the works of Expressionists like Henri Matisse and the woodblock prints of early modern Japanese artists like Katsushika Hokusai, Ruth Grotenrath's 'O'Tannenbaum' combines the expressive use of color of the former with the precision of the latter to create a Christmas card that is as vibrant as it is subtle. Depicting a pine tree decked with ornaments and stockings, Grotenrath has rendered the tree-topping star as a ball of flames to analogize the warmth and spirit of the holiday season.
