Sven Markelius modernist stacking chairs red and dark brown 1931 rare set of 10
By Bodafors, Sven Markelius, SMF Svenska Möbelfabriken Bodafors
Located in Forest, BE
Set of 10 minimal and elegant lightweight confortable stacking chairs by modernist architect Sven Markelius. Designed and produced for the orchestra of the Helsingborg theater in Sweden in 1931. These are dark brown stained birch with lots of patina. We did not touch anything to preserve the almost 100 years of use. On top of the seats there's a faux red leather nailed with brass nails. Still in good condition with patina and traces of use. Some stains can appear. They stack easily by ten and form a nice sculptural composition.
