American, 1912-1992

Burr Singer was born in St. Louis, Missouri and studied at that city’s School of Fine Arts at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Art Students League in New York City and Taos, New Mexico, in private classes with Walter Ufer. She moved to Los Angeles in 1939 and was known for her Regionalism and Social Realism themes.
