Ornate Victorian, molded high relief opalware glass round box with hinged lid features “Collars and Cuffs” hand painted in raised 24-karat gold on the front and a beaded, raised enamel pastel floral motif on the lid. Box has egg and dart pattern gilt metal edges and fancy gold feet. The lid is lined in pristine, original, beautiful gold silk. The lid fits tightly and the clasp is strong. These boxes are rare, as they were used and were broken. This elaborate box probably belonged to a wealthy person. During the time when men’s shirts were sold without collars and cuffs, circa 1890.
