Charles Fuhrman Art
Charles Fuhrman was a native of New York City, where he earned a degree in fine arts from the Pratt Institute. His work was widely shown on the East Coast before he moved to California in 1975. He had solo shows in San Francisco and the Redding Museum, among other places. Fuhrman received many honors for his painting, including awards from the Adolph & Esther Gottlieb and the Pollock-Krasner foundations in 1990 and 1991. In New York, Fuhrman headed the graphics department of Robert P. Gerson Industrial Design. He oversaw the graphic design for several national and multinational corporations, including AT&T, Planned Parenthood of America, and Sears, Roebuck and Co. After moving to the Bay Area, his design firm created some of the region's most familiar corporate graphic identities. Fuhrman also co-founded a book packaging and design company, Wink Books, which packaged books for major publishers.
