This exceptional and unusual antique 19th century cast sterling silver decanter label/bottle ticket has been modelled in the form of a bat, with wings extended. The subtly convex body is embellished with cast details replicating the bat's textured anatomical features. The decoration to the bottle label incorporates the beverage name 'MADEIRA' across the wings and torso of the bat. This large label is suspended by two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain. This impressive bottle ticket has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling silver (.925, 925/1000). This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label / bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular cut cornered form. The body is embellished with the engraved inscription ‘RUM' to the center. The antique decanter label is suspended from two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain.
