An excellent, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver snuffer/pen tray made by William Bateman I; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. This exceptional antique George III sterling silver snuffer tray has a plain rectangular form with rounded corners. The surface of this fine example of antique silverware is plain and unembellished. The raised rounded border is embellished with an impressive vertebrate band of stylized floral, bud and foliate ornamentation, all on a matte background. The rim of the tray is encompassed with an exceptional applied gadroon decorated border accented with a floral motif to either side and a scrolling leaf decorated design to each corner.
