An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique George VI English sterling silver presentation bowl made by Reid & Sons Ltd; an addition to our silver presentation collection This exceptional antique George VI sterling silver bowl has a circular rounded form to a domed circular foot. The body of this silver bowl is embellished with an impressive engraved border incorporating panels of trellis ornamentation and interlacing into impressive quatrefoil shaped motifs. The upper rim is encompassed with an impressive applied border of simplified quatrefoil medallions, with a protruding shell shaped design to either side. The rim is further embellished with four impressive applied collared designs, accented with large layered leaf motifs conjoining with the aforementioned trellis decorated border. This antique 1930s silver bowl is fitted with a pair of exceptional cast sterling silver strapwork style handles, each accented with a lion mask design to the upper terminal. Each handpiece is enveloped with scrolling leaf decoration, in addition to matte panels to the sides. The circular domed foot is ornamented with impressive chased leaf decorated fluted ornamentation, all in a swirl design. This exceptional example of antique silverware is fitted to the original circular swept painted wood plinth, with a vacant silver inscription plaque; the plaque may be engraved with a personal inscription if so desired. The plinth bears the inset retailer's mark 'Reid & Sons Ltd, Newcastle on Tyne'. Condition This antique 1930s silver bowl is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. This George VI piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The engraved decoration is very crisp and the applied, chased and cast ornamentation is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver Monteith bowl; an addition to our range of collectable silverware. This magnificent antique Edwardian sterling silver bowl has a large Monteith form onto a spreading foot. The body of this antique Edwardian monteith bowl is ornamented with exceptional panels of flat engraved decoration, incorporating dynamic chinoiserie characters amongst foliate and towering structures; it can be determined that such a frieze of figures relates to a historical event or folklore. Each panel is segmented with concave fluted pales to a matte textured plateau. The decoration to the body incorporates a leaf bordered cartouche to one side, displaying a contemporary bright cut engraved coat of arms, all above the motto 'Vix Ea Nostra Voco' - I scarce call these deeds of our ancestors ours*. These heraldic markings are surmounted with the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of on a mount, a hind lodged in front of a hawthorn-tree, ducally gorged and chained*.
