Fine 18th Century George III period engraved repousse sterling silver goblet by Francis Crump, London, 1770.
The use of sterling silver drinking vessels is associated with good health as silver is prized for removing impurities from libations. Lovely historic object for Barware collection or a celebratory gift.
Ornately engraved with scroll, foliate and floral motifs with a large cartouche for a crest or personal monogram, having a stout stem and ending in a well formed stepped foot with a bold scallop shaped border.
Fully hallmarked on the side near the top edge Lion passant, London, letter date P for 1770, F.C for Francis Crump.
Weighing 6 troy ounces
Very good condition commensurate with age, a heavy, high quality piece, light surface wear, retaining original interior gilding with some minor wear.
