Eva Bostrom Art

Swedish, b. 1954
Eva Boström was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1954, and currently lives in Alpbach, Austria. While she started out as a painter - and still paints in acrylic or oil - she prefer to make really big paintings. But over the past 20 years she has also produced some 50 original lithographs. Eva says about her paintings and prints "I think that art should be funny as well as a little impudent. We should be affected by it, happy with it, and committed to it. Joy, sensualism and a sense of humor are feelings that should remain on the retina. I hope to be able to bring about these feelings to you as an onlooker. The great pop-artist in the 60's with the sense of humor like Warhol and Lichtenstein have always been sources of inspiration for me. Enjoy my pictures and get your fantasy in motion." Bostrom had her first art exhibition in 1987 at Galleri Konstgåren in Tranås. Over the years, she has gone to nearly a hundred exhibitions in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Switzerland and the U.S.A.

SCROLLS Signed Lithograph, Jewish History, Dead Sea Scrolls, Red, Gold, Black

By Moshe Castel

Located in Union City, NJ

SCROLLS by the Israeli artist Moshe Castel (1909-1991) is a limited edition lithograph printed using traditional hand lithography techniques on archival Somerset paper 100% acid free. SCROLLS is a dramatic abstract collage, its vertical arrangement depicting a grouping of yellow and gold beige papyrus scroll fragments against a textured background of rich vibrant red and black. Ancient alphabet symbols written on the parchment are visible resembling Aramaic letters which create a mystical quality evoking the biblical history of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Aramaic was once the main language of the Jews and appears in some of the Dead Sea Scrolls. It is closely related to Hebrew with the script being very similar. In SCROLLS, Moshe Castel creates a very aesthetically appealing and captivating contemporary arrangement of ancient Jewish symbolism. Print size - 29.75 x 21.5 in. unframed, excellent condition, vivid colors, hand signed in pencil by Moshe Castel Edition size - 150, plus proofs Year published - 1981 Printer - J K Fine Art Editions Co., NY Moshe Elazar Castel born in Jerusalem, Ottoman Palestine, in 1909, to Rabbi Yehuda Castel and his wife Rachel. The family was descended from Spanish Jews from Castile who immigrated to the Holy Land after the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492. Castel attended his father’s school until the age of 13. He went on to study at the Bezalel Art School in Jerusalem, where he was encouraged by his teacher to study in Paris furthering his art education at the Academie Julian and Ecole de Louvre in Paris. He was greatly influenced by European masters Rembrandt, Velasquez, Delacroix and Courbert after spending his days copying their works hanging in the Louvre. Castel returned to Palestine at the onset of WWII. The subject of Castel’s early paintings were scenes of Sephardic Jews in the Holy Land. In 1947, Castel helped to found the "New Horizons" (Ofakim Hadashim) group together with Yosef Zaritsky, Yehezkel Streichman...

Two Flies on a Bentwood Chair: colorful rainbow pop art landscape Micheal Hurson

By Michael Hurson

Located in New York, NY

A colorful pop art drawing of a whimsical landscape scene featuring red flowers, green trees, yellow sun, and blue sky and clouds with cubist furniture on a front porch. Two flies converse over bentwood chairs drawn in black, red and white, in this whimsical work by famed New York artist Michael Hurson. Framed in white enamel. Paper 23.5 x 32.5 in. / 59.5 x 82.5 cm Frame 27 x 35 x 2 in. / 68.5 x 89 x 5 cm Two Flies on a Bentwood Chair by Michael Hurson. Lithograph on white paper with silkscreen on plexiglass, in a cream-colored lacquer frame. Edition 70: this impression 56/70. Signed by the artist with initials and numbered 56/70 in pencil lower right. Prepackaged and framed: ready to ship immediately, and ready to hang out of the box. This mixed-media lithograph with silkscreen portrays the colorful scene of a lush, sun-drenched front porch. Hurson's whimsical play on geometry and three-dimensionality is enhanced by the layers of plexiglass and paper upon which the image is printed. In the center of the composition, printed on the base layer of paper, a bright yellow sun sits atop a liquid, sky-blue background, and a jaunty, crayon-textured cloud. A porch door...
