Dimensions with frame: 28,3 x 37 x 4 cm Signed and titled "C. Carelli Napoli" in the lower left corner. A closely related companion painting by the same artist, depicting a similar view of the Bay of Naples under different atmospheric conditions and of identical dimensions, is also currently available, offering the opportunity to acquire a rare and decorative pair. This lively maritime scene depicts traditional fishing boats resting on the calm waters of the Bay of Naples, with the unmistakable silhouette of Mount Vesuvius rising in the distance. Executed with vibrant brushwork and a refined sense of atmosphere, the composition beautifully captures the daily life and maritime character of southern Italy. Overhead, a dramatic, cloud-laden sky gathers above the bay, its heavy formations creating a slightly ominous mood that contrasts with the stillness of the water and adds a striking sense of tension and atmosphere to the scene. In the foreground, several fishermen gather aboard wooden boats loaded with fishing nets and equipment. Their colorful garments add touches of red, green, and ochre that animate the composition, while the large sail of the central vessel creates a striking visual anchor. The quiet water reflects both the boats and the warm light of the sky, enhancing the painting’s sense of serenity. Beyond the fishing activity, Mount Vesuvius dominates the horizon, releasing a faint plume of smoke that adds drama and authenticity to this classic Neapolitan view. The contrast between the dark volcanic slopes and the luminous sea creates depth and visual balance throughout the scene. The painting reflects the rich tradition of 19th- and early 20th-century Neapolitan marine painting, celebrated for its picturesque depictions of coastal life and iconic views of the Bay of Naples. This atmospheric work would make an excellent addition to collections of Italian marine painting, Grand Tour subjects, or historic views of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Dimensions with frame: 45,5 x 55,5 x 8 cm Signed "E. Briante" in the lower right corner. This vibrant coastal painting depicts fishermen at work in a sunlit harbor with the iconic Faraglioni rock formations rising dramatically from the sea in the distance. Several boats cluster along a stone quay in the foreground, where figures prepare nets and equipment, capturing a lively moment of maritime life along the Italian coast. Executed in oil with confident, impressionistic brushwork, the artist conveys the brilliance of Mediterranean light through shimmering turquoise water and warm reflections dancing across the painted hulls. The composition balances intimate foreground activity with an expansive seascape, leading the eye toward the monumental limestone stacks that define the horizon. Additional vessels glide across the calm bay, reinforcing the sense of a working harbor while adding depth and movement. The distinctive silhouettes of the Faraglioni anchor the scene geographically and visually, providing a dramatic backdrop to the everyday labor of the fishermen. The painting reflects the enduring tradition of Italian marine...

A closely related companion painting by the same artist—depicting a similar view of the Bay of Naples under different atmospheric conditions and of identical dimensions—is also currently available, offering the opportunity to acquire a rare and decorative pair. This charming and atmospheric landscape depicts a lively scene along the Bay of Naples with the majestic Mount Vesuvius rising in the background. The composition captures the vibrant character of southern Italy, where daily life unfolds along the waterfront beneath the iconic volcano. In the foreground, a bustling open-air market is sheltered beneath large canvas awnings supported by wooden poles. Groups of figures gather around tables, creating a sense of activity and local color. Their lively gestures and varied attire animate the scene, suggesting a moment of social exchange and commerce. Beyond the market, the calm waters of the bay reflect the warm tones of the sky. Small fishing boats and rowboats glide across the harbor, guiding the eye toward the distant shoreline where the city of Naples stretches along the coast. Dominating the horizon, Mount Vesuvius releases a delicate plume of smoke, adding both drama and authenticity to this classic Neapolitan view. The artist skillfully balances narrative detail with atmospheric landscape painting. Warm sunlight illuminates the architecture and shoreline, while soft clouds diffuse the sky, enhancing the depth and tranquility of the scene. The painting reflects the tradition of 19th- and early 20th-century Italian veduta and tourist paintings, highly sought after for their romantic depictions of historic Italian landscapes. This evocative work would make a wonderful addition to collections of Italian landscape painting, Grand Tour subjects, or historic views of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.
