George Rodrigue Paintings

American, 1944-2013

From New Iberia, Louisiana, George Rodrigue is known for his Blue Dog series, inspired by his long-deceased childhood pet, Tiffany, whom he posed with other animals and people for his popular paintings and prints

Rodrigue had early art talent, and while ill for nearly a year, he used watercolors and crayons to pass the time, and this activity set his future. He studied at the University of Southwestern Louisiana and in Los Angeles at the Art Center College of Design. For a while, Rodrigue painted Abstract Expressionist works but then went back to creating paintings that reflected his own Cajun culture, including folk tales and bayou and swamp landscapes.

Gradually a black and white spaniel, based on his childhood companion, Tiffany, increasingly appeared in Rodgrigue's paintings and became the Blue Dog, now a compelling and humorous Pop figure in his original works and silkscreen reproductions. In 2000, representatives of the Xerox corporation commissioned Rodrigue with a multi-million dollar contract to do a series of Blue Dog paintings to promote their printers.

Rodrigue was also the artist for the Absolut Vodka ads and created the artwork for three New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival posters. The 1995 poster, with the portrait of Louis Armstrong, as well as the one created in 1996 that featured Pete Fountain, have become collector's items.

Rodrigue and his wife, Wendy, created the House of Blues Foundation Room to support arts and cultural programs for youth. Money is raised through the sale of his paintings. A George Rodrigue museum is in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Damien Hirst Spin Painting (Damien Hirst shark spin painting)

By Damien Hirst

Located in NEW YORK, NY

Damien Hirst Spin Painting 2009: A mesmerizing Damien Hirst Spin painting with explosions of vivid color amidst the timeless, mysterious form of a shark. This Damien Hirst Spin painting originates from Hirst’s ‘Spin Workshop’ - a public event hosted by the artist to celebrate the opening of his heralded 2009 exhibition: ‘Requiem’ at the PinchukArtCentre, Ukraine. Acrylic on paper. 2009. 19.25 x 26.5 inches. Excellent overall condition. Unique; one of. Features a stamped (printed) signature on the reverse and inscription: © Damien Hirst. A beautifully rendered Damien Hirst painting defined by strong colors, classic Hirst motifs & a unique overall presence. Artist Bio: Damien Hirst is a British Conceptual artist known for his controversial take on beauty and found-art objects. Along with Liam Gillick, Tracey Emin, and Sarah Lucas, Hirst was part of the Young British Artists movement that rose to prominence in the early 1990s. “I have always been aware that you have to get people listening before you can change their minds,” he reflected. “Any artist's big fear is being ignored, so if you get debate, that's great.” Born on June 7, 1965 in Bristol, United Kingdom, Hirst was raised in Leeds. As a student at Goldsmiths College in London, his work caught the eye of the collector and gallerist Charles Saatchi, who became an early patron. Hirst’s The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living (1991)—a large vitrine containing an Australian tiger shark suspended in formaldehyde—was financed by Saatchi and helped to launch the artist’s career. Hirst went on to win the coveted Turner Prize in 1995. In 2012, he showed what went on to be one of his most controversial work in decades, the installation In and Out of Love, which consisted of two white windowless rooms in which over 9,000 butterflies flitted around and died. In 2015 Hirst opened the Newport Street Gallery in London, which grew from his long-term ambition to share his art collection with the public. The artist lives and works in London, United Kingdom. His works are held in the collections of the Tate Gallery in London, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., and the Rubell Family Collection in Miami. Inflatable Unicorn Cloudscape Painting Blue Sky Fantasy Art on Linen Canvas

By Sofía Cristina Jiménez

Located in FISTERRA, ES

Inflatable unicorn cloudscape painting combining fantasy imagery, balloon animal aesthetics and luminous blue sky atmosphere on Belgian linen. This original acrylic painting by Sofía Cristina Jiménez belongs to the Air series, a body of work in which inflatable figures occupy open skies, cloud formations and weightless atmospheric environments. Depicting a silver unicorn transformed into a floating balloon-like object, the painting combines fantasy art, cloudscape painting and pop surrealist imagery within a composition defined by light, openness and visual suspension. At the center of the work, the unicorn appears as a reflective inflatable figure drifting through a brilliant blue sky. Its metallic silver surface captures and reflects surrounding light while contrasting with the soft textures of the clouds. The segmented construction of the form recalls balloon sculptures and inflatable toys, transforming a mythical creature into an object shaped by contemporary visual culture. Throughout the Air series, Sofía Cristina Jiménez investigates the relationship between fantasy, representation and material transformation. Familiar symbols are displaced from their traditional contexts and reimagined through synthetic forms. Here, the unicorn remains recognizable as a mythical figure associated with imagination, wonder and storytelling, yet its inflatable construction subtly shifts its meaning toward contemporary image culture and manufactured fantasy. The expansive cloudscape creates a sense of freedom and spatial ambiguity. Layers of white clouds establish depth and movement while the saturated blue sky provides a powerful chromatic field that reinforces the sensation of elevation and lightness. Rather than presenting a narrative scene, the painting captures a suspended moment between reality and imagination. Executed in acrylic on Belgian linen, the work combines precise rendering of reflective surfaces with atmospheric painterly passages. The result functions simultaneously as a fantasy painting, cloudscape artwork and contemporary figurative composition, making it particularly suitable for collectors interested in pop surrealism, contemporary fantasy imagery and uplifting architectural interiors. Medium: Acrylic on Belgian linen canvas Series: Air Condition: Excellent original condition Frame: Unframed Installation: Ready to hang Authenticity: Unique original artwork This work is particularly suited for collectors interested in unicorn painting...
