Giorgio Lo Fermo Mixed Media

Italian, b. 1947

Giorgio Lo Fermo is an Italian painter and sculptor. He was born in Sicily in 1947, but has lived and worked in Rome since the mid-1960s. He studied at the School of Arts and Crafts of San Giacomo and then Sociology of Art at the University of Rome. His innovative style took form in the ‘70s, in the stimulating atmosphere of the new Rome, re-born through the creative vitality of Fellini and Rossellini. Lo Fermo’s style is a studied symbolic elaboration of varying rhythms, in which objectivity and logic give way to a liberal expression of the dynamic content. His concept is reanimated in color and in aesthetics, which take kinetic paths toward both reality and fantasy, connecting themselves intimately with experience and interior tension. During his career, Lo Fermo has participated in international exhibitions in New York (1992), Stockholm (1992), Budapest (1992/1993), Hong Kong (1994) and in the “International Art Competition” of New York in 1995. He won several important recognitions and awards like the Italian Art Leader Award ’92, the Art and World Prize of Hong Kong in 1994 and he was also nominated member of the Accademia Internazionale Greci Marino. The major galleries in Rome, such as A. Consorti, Gradiva, Babuino and Yanika exhibit his canvases and his work is held in private collections both in Europe and in America.

Mark Acetelli’s oil and mixed media paintings awaken the viewer’s sense of exploration and adventure; they demand a new discovery. His artworks exhibit a chemistry of complexity and spontaneity, a lyrical abstraction of frenzied marks, many of which previously lay hidden, buried beneath strong layers of self-taught expression. Those truths, first obscured and then obvious, aim to engage the viewer, allowing them to explore their own interpretation. His figurative abstract artworks are represented by Artspace Warehouse in Los Angeles and have been exhibited and collected worldwide, including London, New York, and Hong Kong. This original oil painting on canvas measures 60 inches high by 48 inches wide. In his distinct abstract expressionist style, Acetelli uses a captivating blend of color and form to create an ethereal scene filled with serenity and introspection. The artwork is wired and ready to hang. The sides of the artwork are painted black and it does not require framing. It is signed by the artist on the front of the artwork and titled on the back. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and international shipping is available. A certificate of authenticity issued by Artplex Gallery is included. Mark Acetelli was born in Detroit into an artistic household. Mark’s mother herself was a painter and some of his earliest memories were the smell of turpentine and oil paints. Growing up surrounded by his mother's work, she inspired and encouraged him to become an artist. Acetelli’s paintings are inspired by the intensely personal introspective journey of life, from the ever-changing complexities of love, loss, birth, and death. The context of his work he describes as, “Absence and Presence” pertaining to how someone or something can be physically gone, but the essence still remains. Capturing the physical mixed with spirituality on canvas. His application of paint is an extension of that thought process. He works by continuously building up and tearing down, layer upon layer, adding and subtracting. A visceral dance between the conscious and the unconscious until the emotion is expressed. Acetelli’s paintings may go through multiple incarnations with the past lying just beneath the surface, adding to its overall dimension and depth. Acetelli's mastery of abstraction is evident in his use of color and form to evoke emotion and atmosphere. In his work, Acetelli seeks to evoke a feeling rather than depict a defined image. He uses primarily oils and encaustics to create thickly layered canvases with emotive bursts of color. Creating a world where imagination and reality come together. Acetelli’s works can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world, including Bill Withers, Lisa Colburn, Colburn School of Music, Raytheon Corp, Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, Michael Jordan, Stuart Beattie, Claire Forlani, Camryn Manheim, and Francine Maisler. Artplex Gallery has been representing and exhibiting Mark Acetelli's original artworks since 2018. He was previously represented by Artspace Warehouse, a partner gallery of Artplex Gallery. The gallery has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide. The gallery exhibits a large selection of original artworks from established and emerging international artists with diverse backgrounds at high standards.
