Harold Dunbar Paintings

American, 1882-1953
Harold Dunbar, born in Brockton, Massachusetts in 1882, studied painting with noted Boston artists Ernest Major and Joseph DeCamp (of The Ten fame) at Massachusetts School of Art and also with Edmund Tarbell (also of The Ten) at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He continued his training in Paris at the Académie Colarossi. Dunbar produced many fine impressionist New England landscapes in all seasons during the earlier part of his career. He also completed the occasional interior genre scene in the Boston School manner. He later spent much of his life in Chatham on Cape Cod where he produced many paintings of scenes in Chatham, Harwich and the Outer Cape. He was editor of the Cape Cod Beacon and also Director of the Chatham Summer Art Classes from 1915 to the 1950s. Harold Dunbar exhibited at the Boston Art Club, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, the Corcoran Gallery, Washington, D.C., the American Watercolor Society and the Art Institute, Chicago. His work is represented in collections at Radcliffe College, the State House in Montpelier, Vermont, Beuchner Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, Empire Theatre in New York City, Museum of the City of New York, Municipal Collection of McPherson, Kansas and Little Theatre, Chatham, MA .

Plein Air Creekside by Lu Haskew Oil 8x9" image size Landscape Painting This painting is unframed, canvas on gator board, the price reflects that it is unframed. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Lu Haskew 1921-2009 "Life is good to me. Being able to go to my studio five days weekly and paint for several hours, living in a supportive community, having family and friends who encourage me--all have contributed to helping me become an artist. Being fortunate to study with some of the artists I admire has kept me painting from the garden, people and my favorite things. With the support of galleries, teaching and doing demos, how could I do anything else? My goal is to try to be the best I can be by always being a student, looking for new ideas and stretching my horizons." Upon retirement from a 33-year teaching career, Lu rented a studio in Loveland and began concentrating on her oil and watercolor painting. Learning from artists she had followed and admired throughout the years her painting became a full time career that lasted 17-years. Beginning in 1992, she studied with renowned painters Richard Schmid, Clyde Aspevig, Joyce Pike...

In 1979 he was awarded his "authorization and certification" by the Ministry of Arts and Culture in Warsaw. This recognition is the ultimate achievement for Polish artists. Immediately after reaching this stature, Jan was in demand for numerous individual and collective exhibitions. From 1981 through part of 1988, he worked throughout Europe. During this time period he was invited to exhibit in Switzerland and in England where he had a one-man show. His travels brought him to the United States for a short vacation that has turned into his newfound home. His work was particularly well received in Michigan where he had three one-man shows, two of which were in Grosse Pointe and Harbor Springs...
