Jayne Cooper Art

American
Jayne Cooper is recognized as an Abstract Expressionist. She creates Abstract and Primitive Art, in the impulse of intense emotion, inspired by her passion for World Music, the ocean, animals, nature, world travel and her Passion for Life. Jayne greatly admires the works of Phillip Guston, Franz Kline, Jackson Pollack, Lee Krasin and Robert Motherwell, but didn’t want to copy their manners and methods, in the hopes of developing a style. Instead she remains original, creating one-of-a-kind works, in her own unique style. Passionate and filled with life, not simply painting what she sees, but painting what she feels, her emotions and senses driving her raw, Self-Taught artistry. She grew up bohemian in spirit and it shows in her art. Traveling extensively as a youth helped her understand the world and its art at a young age. Sitting in European cafés and restaurants, around the world, she absorbed the beauty and the essence of their cultures, experiencing life as a visual artist, seeing, and feeling the world, that would become material for her paintings and drawings. Jayne's paintings pour from her heart and soul to her hand, to her canvas, in a flood of feelings that can only be expressed by the immediacy of the act of painting. She feels emotion from others, she senses the "vibes" in a room and her paintings reflect this emotion. Jayne’s talent is expressed through passionate creativity and intense motion of her hands. As she focuses on her material, something in her takes over as she creates. At times, Jayne would wake up, with no recollection of what she created the night before. The final drawings and paintings were spectacular. Jayne believes her subliminal mind took over during these times, to create these unique works of art. Jayne’s subjects are Figurative, Abstract, and Collage. She paints in pastels, ink, charcoal, pencil, oil and acrylic paint, on canvas and paper. Her works have been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and private commissioning hang in collector’s homes.

Mandala represents "wholeness" and is also used as an aid in meditation. The term mandala has become a generic way of describing any circular geometric pattern. The word mandala originated from Sanskrit which means “Circle”. Early versions of the Mandala can be found in the Hindu faith where we would see geometric shapes representing deities. Buddhism took this concept one step further and today if you speak to someone in the Buddhist faith they will tell you that these paintings are in essence a 3 dimensional celestial palace with rooms that contains deities. Let’s call this a mind map, a map to help us further our spiritual journey. Our collection will focus almost entirely on Buddhist Mandalas, a Mandala by Buddhist standards will respect certain basic rules of composition and geometric proportion, although each painting you see is unique in its own way, we will try and cover some of these basic iconographic rules. A Mandala almost always consists of two elements, an outer circle combined with a square positioned inside. In most cases these circles or rings create a pure space protected from external impurities and negative forces. The number of these circles can differ from one painting to another. In almost all mandalas the outermost circle will show flames which commonly represents protection and the innermost circle with be lotus petals which is the Buddhist symbol for purity. This imagery is typical of Mandalas and Thangkas in general which is why almost all deities are seated on lotus thrones. The square represents this symbolic palace or mind map, which is mentioned in the previous section. Any Mandala will always contain a principle deity it can be painted or symbolized by a lotus flower in the case of the Kalachakra Mandala...
