Hoshi devised a unique method for printing that involved gold and silver leaf, oil paints, and applying a torch to his woodblocks. The branches and the trunk have been printed with a three-dimensional effect. Hoshi’s prints apparently sold out as soon as he completed them. He gives trees their spiritual due. Numbered 86 from a limited edition of 99. Hoshi used oil paints, so his works do not suffer fading the way most woodblock prints created with water-based paints do.
