Jose Borrell Art
Spanish, b. 1969
Josep Borell was born in Alcoy (Alicante) on January 25th, 1969. He was born into a family without a traditional artistic background, although he always had the support of his parents and older sister. From a young age he showed a great passion for illustration and the comic world, comics being the reason why he started as a draftsman and cartoonist. It was not strange, during his school years, that the teacher caught Josep in the middle of class drawing in his notebook.
He is a great admirer of Sorolla and Dali, as he looks to adapt the color and light of Sorolla with the surrealist touches of Dali. Borrell goes as far as including a transgressor element that breaks the relaxation that his nudes transmit, for example the beetle which is in homage to Dali who used to paint ants in his paintings.
Josep is an unassuming person who enjoys the natural beauty of things. He does not like urban environments, neither cars nor impositions of the present day society, which drag us into an artificial and stressed life. He lives in the country with his wife Aranza and his son Izan (10 years). His hobbies include going on long walks in the countryside and to sing with an amateur rock band, which rehearse every Saturday. Rock and Heavy Metal are his favorite kinds of music, and KISS is his favorite rock band. He is also interested photography.

The Theory on Jazz History
By Jose Borrell
Located in Atlanta, GA
This painting is in excellent condition and has only been shown in a gallery setting. The painting measures 78" x 35" and 81"x 38" with frame.
Known for his hyperrealist nudes and portraits, Jose Borrell captures both the human form and emotions. Transcending beyond mere documentation, Borrell transmits the personality and essence of his subjects.
His latest series focuses on twentieth-century American jazz saxophonist Ben Webster, and true to Borrell's signature trait, the paintings transmit the vibrant energy of the acclaimed musician. Born in 1909 in Kansas City, Missouri, Ben Webster studied violin in elementary school and taught himself piano. In 1927-1928 he played for silent movies in Kansas City and in Amarillo, Texas. After a friend introduced him to basic chords on the saxophone, he devoted himself to the instrument and played with many emerging orchestras in the bustling 1930s Kansas City jazz...

Lotus No. 65 (Photo-Realist Still Life Painting of Pink & Green Lotus Flowers)
By Frank DePietro
Located in Hudson, NY
Photorealist still life painting on canvas of a light pink lotus flower with brown lotus pods and green petals against a light grey background
"Lotus Number Sixty-Five"
oil on canvas, 48 x 48 inches, 49 x 49 x 2 inches with a dark wood frame
Signed lower left
Excellent condition and ready to hang
Painted with the exactness of a still life photograph, this hard edge realist painting by artist Frank DiPietro features a light pink lotus flower, with lush green leaves on a pale grey background. Inspired by close observations of the natural world and encounters with still moments that give us pause. Lines, shapes and colors encountered in nature, reveal the cycles of decay and regeneration that are life’s constant state of change. The work has a quiet, meditative quality. The subject is portrayed in a manner true to their existence in a specific time and place and selected based on considerations of visual relationships to formal elements of painting. Aspects of photo realism, hard edge and color field techniques are utilized to isolate the uniqueness of the subject’s detail, as well as emphasize flatness and illusion of depth within the two-dimensional space of the painting.
About the artist:
Frank DiPietro was born and raised in Scranton PA. He received a Bachelor of Art from Bloomsburg University in 1997, majoring in both Painting and Ceramics with a minor in Art History. In 2000 he earned a degree in Art Education from Moore College of Art and Design while continuing his studies in painting. Frank lived in Philadelphia for twelve years painting and teaching at several museums, art centers and schools in the region. In 2010 he and his family moved to Chester County PA, where he currently resides. Frank currently teaches painting classes and workshops at the Delaware Art Museum and Longwood Gardens...

Historique:
