Among its most prominent members was Joaquim Vayreda (1843–1894), a leading Spanish landscape painter and founder of the influential Olot School of Landscape Painting.
Growing up within this remarkable artistic environment, Josep Maria Vayreda developed a strong appreciation for landscape painting, architectural subjects and the expressive possibilities of natural light.
He studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Olot and began exhibiting his work at an early age.
In 1958, he exhibited in Barcelona and received an award from the Press Association. That same year he moved to Paris, where he further developed his artistic career.
