More about pioneering artist Judy Chicago
Judy Chicago (born Judith Sylvia Cohen; July 20, 1939) is an American feminist artist, art educator, and writer known for her large collaborative art installation pieces about birth and creation images, which examine the role of women in history and culture. During the 1970s, Chicago founded the first feminist art program in the United States at California State University, Fresno (formerly Fresno State College) which acted as a catalyst for feminist art and art education during the 1970s. Her inclusion in hundreds of publications in various areas of the world showcases her influence in the worldwide art community. Additionally, many of her books have been published in other countries, making her work more accessible to international readers. Chicago's work incorporates a variety of artistic skills, such as needlework, counterbalanced with skills such as welding and pyrotechnics. Chicago's most well known work is The Dinner Party, which is permanently installed in the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum. The Dinner Party celebrates the accomplishments of women throughout history and is widely regarded as the first epic feminist artwork. Vintage Judy Chicago Feminist Artist Mod Cloisonne Enamel Earrings Pop Art
By Judy Chicago
Located in Surfside, FL
A pair of new old stock, vintage Judy Chicago earrings in a rainbow and two tone purposely mismatched set. it has a pop art sensibility to it. This is not by Acme studios. It just has her signature on the back. This came in with a large collection of new old stock vintage Jewelry from the legendary Acme Studio which created many revolutionary jewelry items. It was handmade in the 1980s using the intricate cloisonné process, an ancient technique for decorating metal; hence any imperfections within the colors are to be expected and inherent which makes it unique and one-of-a-kind.
The Memphis Designers for Acme collection debuted in 1986, at the opening of the Memphis/Milano exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York City. The entire collection is in the permanent collection of the Groninger Collection in The Netherlands and is represented in other museum collections worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum in New york city. In 1981 Ettore Sottsass formed a design collaborative name Memphis Design. The Memphis Design Group drew inspiration from such movements as Art Deco and Pop Art producing jewelry, furniture, lighting and fabrics from 1981 to 1988. The rare designs by members including Nathalie du Pasquier, Andrea Branzi, Martine Bedin, Matteo Thun and Peter Shire are often characterized by zany colors and asymmetrical shapes. The group designed many postmodern furniture, fabrics, ceramics, glass, and metal objects until 1987. The name "Memphis" came from Bob Dylan's Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again, which was playing during the group's inaugural meeting. Inspired by art deco, art nouveau, and pop art, the group created many bold, colorful, geometric styles that departed from the rigid and dark trend during the 1970s.
From 1985 to 1992, Acme founders Adrian Olabuenaga and Leslie Bailey produced more than 100 different earrings, brooches, and necklaces by design titans like Ettore Sottsass, Joanna Grawunder, Martine Bedin, Matteo Thun, Alessandro Mendini, and George Sowden, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Marco Zanini, as well as architects Alessandro Mendini, Stanley Tigerman, Richard Meier, Robert A.M. Stern, Florida architect Laurinda Spear, New Jersey-based Michael Graves, New York’s Peter Eisenman and Argentine architect Alberto Olabuenaga (the jeweler’s father) also designed for the project.
California artists Billy Al Bengston, laddie John Dill, Ronnie Cutrone, Charles Arnoldi and Ken Price all designed for Acme Studio as well as famed Playboy Magazine artist Patrick Nagel.

In Praise of Prairie Dogs (Nod on Species Extinction by feminist Icon)
By Judy Chicago
Located in New Orleans, LA
the words: "Human beings are not the only creatures who kiss" create a canopy over the main creatures.
Judy Chicago created this six run, eleven color lithograph in an edition of 95 on Blue Pescia paper (paper size is 22 x 18 in). Reference Tamarind 19-325. The Tamarind chop is on lower left and printer's chop on lower right.. It is signed by Chicago on lower right. This summer, feminist icon, artist, writer, and educator Judy Chicago was in the workshop collaborating with Master Printer Valpuri Remling on a special edition for the Collectors Club. The eleven-color lithograph she created brings attention to impending species extinction, and continues her extensive work in printmaking.
Chicago has spent her career bringing visibility to subjects that are not widely represented in the history of art. Internationally known for The Dinner Party, an epic installation comprised of a banquet of ceramic table settings honoring influential women in Western civilization, Chicago has worked tirelessly to highlight the social and cultural contributions of women. Now 80 years old, sporting brilliant purple hair and enjoying broad critical recognition and major museum exhibitions, Chicago has achieved a new level of art celebrity status. She is utilizing this hard-earned platform to focus attention around species extinction.
Tamarind’s newly released Collectors Club edition pays tribute to the North American prairie dog...

"I was intent on creating a female-centered iconography because I believe it is urgent for women to have affirming images and also, to feel that they are part of the divine. This goddess figurine...
