Vintage art glass elephant figurine or paperweight features streamlined silhouette in Scandinavian Modern style with Swedish Grace and Mid Century Modern influence, done in striking, complex teal blue glass, and encased in substantial layer of clear glass in sommerso technique. The glass glows brightly in UV light, indicating the presence of uranium in the formulation. The elephant is sculpted with its head raised and trunk lifted; the minimal, streamlined form is catching the light at every angle, with subtle light refractions adding sparkle, creating an illusion of movement, and guiding the eye along the lines of the sculpture.
The sculpture is marked with the original factory label, "Reijmyre, Sweden" blue & silver oval foil label, on the bottom.
Statuesque, decorative sculpture, with high quality craftsmanship, beautiful, elegant form, and statement piece presence, will make a great gift to a collector or design enthusiast and a perfect addition to a wide range of tablescapes and interiors, from Traditional to Organic Modern, English Cottage, Mid Century Modern, Italian Modern, Neo Deco, Art Deco, Modern Heritage, Eclectic, Glam, Scandinavian Modern, Modern Country, Collected, or Contemporary.
