Sachi Rome Mixed Media

American, b. 1977
Sachi Rome lives and works in Atlanta, the city where she was born and raised. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia with a concentration in painting, under the tutelage of renowned painter Louise Delsarte. Rome went on to attain a Master of Arts from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Rome is a multidisciplinary artist and muralist, flowing seamlessly from painting, printmaking and large scale murals. Foundational to her practice is the use of rich vibrant color and texture, leaning into abstract figurative works that push beyond both the literal and figurative representation of black bodies. Her work is reflective of critical questions surrounding identity, representation, and the creation of a metaphysical space for black bodies to safely exist in. She has been featured in Forbes, The NY Times and the Huffington Post. Her awards and recognition include The Creatives Project Residency (2020-2022), Garden Fellows Fellowship (2018), Stay-home Residency (2021), Fulton County Arts and Culture Grant Awardee (2020). Her work has been acquired by both public institutions and private collectors throughout the United States. Her exhibition record includes the Apex Museum (GA), Nowhere Art Gallery-Martha’s Vineyard (MA), University of Southern Mississippi (MS), Bo Barrett Art Center (NY), Swan Coach House (GA), Mason Fine Art (GA), Lyndon House Art Center (GA), amongst others. Her murals and public art can be seen throughout the city of Atlanta. She has spent her artistic career in the dual roles of artist and educator.

"Weeds" Colorful Abstract Expressionistic Mixed Media Painting on Canvas

By Paul Indrek Kostabi

Located in New York, NY

Paul Kostabi is known for his wildly fun, expressionistic, and colorful portraits. This painting is a perfect definition of his most popular works. Red, bright whites, greens, and blues disperse in a frenzy of splatters, fast brush strokes, and speckles ascending across the canvas. The exuberant, bright, and messy depictions of this piece hold much fascination in its execution. His layered approach to the paint is part of what makes his works so attractive and exciting; creating many dimensions and highlights resembling the shine and gleam of stars in the universe. This is a unique work painted with mixed media on canvas, is signed by the artist lower left and titled and dated on verso. Art measures 24 x 18 inches Paul Kostabi (Paul Indrek Kostabi) was born in 1962 in Whittier, California. He is an American artist, musician, music producer, and audio engineer. He is the brother of artist Mark Kostabi. He became part of the CBGB Festival in 2014 exhibiting paintings alongside photographers Bob Gruen, Michael Lavine...

"Ben-day Sophia 1" Mixed media, Acrylic, spray paint, pigmented ink 36x28 canvas

By Ceravolo

Located in Southampton, NY

"Benday Sophia 1" pays tribute to those paintings that became the trademark of Ceravolo's unique and trend setting style of painting. His work is collected worldwide and is in many important collections including, Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Hugh Hefner and Prince Jefri of Brunei to name only a few. In addition to those, his paintings came to popular attention when he was commissioned to create 5 large scale paintings for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City. In this painting, Ceravolo has featured an image of his pop art painting of Sophia Loren, and combined it with a pattern of benday dots to create the basis of "Benday Sophia 1". He then paints his trademark brush strokes and textures on the canvas over the pop art portrait. Then, he paints the "floating" illusion that creates the 3d floating effect he is known for. The Canvas measures 36x28".

"Grace" features hues of black, purple, blue and white. 33 by 27 inches framed Sachi Rome is inspired by the works of Gerhard Richter, Deborah Dancy, Ed Clark, M. Florine Démosthène, Morel Doucet and Kassou Seydou. Sachi Rome is a painter and a mixed media artist who views her process as a ritual. Utilizing expressive mark making, movement and texture through an experimental use of tools and materials, she creates a visual dialogue that explores spaces for Black people to exist without fear. Connections between identity, memory and African spirituality are entry points for creating a protected and safe space, free from the contrived world that fights to sustain the deception that Black bodies are a threat, and thus unworthy of peaceful existence. Her subjects are colorful, textured figures living in a visual space left open and void of outside negative forces. In creating visual avatars of these souls, she is regifting them with life, presence and audience. They are at home in their space and assured of a rarefied and precious safety, scarcely afforded to and felt by Black people. It is within her work that she offers portals and talismans of hope, healing and protection. Sachi Rome was born, raised, lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education from Morris Brown...
