Ruy Ohtake (1938-2021), one of Brazil’s most important architects, transitioned from concrete to steel in his furniture designs, emphasizing structural independence. The Banco Onda exemplifies this shift, where Ohtake used fluid, organic curves enabled by laminated steel, offering high strength with minimal thickness.
