An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver four-piece tea and coffee service, an addition to our silver teaware collection This exceptional, antique Edwardian four piece sterling silver tea and coffee service consists of a coffee pot, teapot, cream jug and sugar basket. Each piece of this fine silver tea set has an oval rounded form, all in the Queen Anne style. The body of each piece is ornamented with panels of fluted decoration, incorporating a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a wolf chained and collared to one side. The upper rim of each piece is ornamented with an applied moulded border. Both the coffee pot and teapot are fitted with hinged hallmarked domed covers surmounted by the original carved painted wood and sterling silver topped pineapple finials. The silver teapot and coffee pot retain the original carved painted wood handles, featuring a plain scrolling thumbpiece. The cream jug is fitted with an elongated C shaped silver handle and the sugar basket a swing handle, each ornamented with reed decoration. The silver coffee pot, cream jug and sugar basket are each supported by a plain and unembellished oval pedestal foot. The coffee pot, teapot and sugar basket bear the retailer's mark 'Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England' to the underside. This four piece tea and coffee service was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Walker & Hall; the pieces will have been crafted in fewer year but due to the hallmarking system the coffee pot bears the Sheffield assay mark for 1901 (i), the cream jug features the Sheffield assay mark for 1905 (n), whereas the teapot and sugar basket were each assayed in Chester in 1906 (F). These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver entree dishes have a rounded oval form. The surface of each cover is encircled with a fine band of bright cut engraved stylised scrolling leaf and undulating line decoration incorporating lozenge and floral shaped motifs. The decoration to each dish incorporates a vacant cartouche to either side. The surface of each base and the interior of the covers are plain and unembellished. The rim of each entree dish base, in addition to the upper surface of the covers are encompassed with an applied stylised Roman leaf border. Both covers retain the original fine and impressive fully hallmarked key fitting detachable shaped scrolling handles ornamented with further applied stylised Roman leaf borders. This is a large wonderful antique English Victorian silver-plated Tray by Walker & Hall, circa 1880 in date. This splendid large tray features beautifully plain body. The raised border featues twin handles to each side and is decorated with scalloped edges and floral ornamentation, the center feaures a a foral engraved panel. It is splendid and luxurious and will look fabulous on your sideboard with decanters and glasses. The quality and craftsmanship throughout the piece are truly second to none. Condition: In excellent condition with clear makers marks and no dings, dents or signs of repair.
