Bio: Aaron Bohrod (1907-1992) was born in Chicago, the son of an emigree Bessarabian-Jewish grocer. From 1926 to 1930, Bohrod studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League of New York. There, Bohrod was influenced by John Sloan .
He was granted Guggenheim Fellowships which permitted him to travel recording the American scene in a highly realistic style, almost trompe-l'œil like, which he became identified with and earned him early praise as an important social realist.
During WW II, Bohrod worked as an artist first in the Pacific for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, then in Europe for Life magazine. In 1948, he accepted a position as artist in residence, succeeding John Stuart Curry...
