A finely decorative pair of late 19th century French or Continental cut-crystal and gilt-metal candelabra, conceived in the Louis XVI Revival taste and reflecting the brilliant decorative vocabulary of the Belle Époque interior. Each candelabrum is composed with a shaped cut-crystal standard rising from a radiating scalloped circular base, the glass worked with alternating fluted, diamond-cut, and crosshatched panels that catch and refract light with strong prismatic effect. The central upright finial is similarly faceted, lending height and architectural presence to the form.
