A beautiful vesta box, created in Germany in the turn of the 20th century, back in the 1900. This superb pocket oval box was carefully crafted with neo classical patterns in solid .900/.999 silver. Show exceptional workmanship with remarkably details as you expect from the iconic jewelry workshop of Louis Kuppenheim. It is fitted with a hinge and a tension element for fastening opening and closing. Actually this box can be easily used as a pill box.

Hallmarks: Stamped with German pre 1922 marks, the maker's mark LK inside an oval cartouche associated to the workshop of Louis Kuppenheim, the mark for the silver assay 900 and signed in the border rim, "LK .900".
Louis Kuppenheim
The company was grounded in 1854 by Louis Kuppenheim (1824-1889) and Heinrich Witzenmann, specialized in silver and gold and -enameled artefacts. On the World Exhibition in 1900 the firm received a gold medal for a letter opener. In that same year the company opened a branch in the Rue Richelieu 67 in Paris. In these years some designs by Hans Christiansen were executed, amongst them very delicately enameled silver cigarette cases. The enamels on the several silver and gold pieces was of very high standard, and sometimes even gems like rubies were applied. Exceptional art deco rectangular case, created in Paris France at the jewelry workshop atelier of Strauss Allard et Meyer, back in the 1925-1926. This piece has been carefully crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with gilt interiors. It is decorated with applications on both sides of vivid red-orange lacquer. This beautiful box was made with cushioned edges and is fitted with an six barrel tension hinge, a push lock and a barrier to storage cards. It is in mint condition with no trace of use or wear and can be easily used as a luxury presentation cards-box.

About cooperation Salimbeni and Cartier.
Our first meetings with the Cartier USA Company took place through the Giorgini Company, the first "Buying Office" set up in Florence immediately after the Second World War, which had the purpose of bringing together Florentine, and also Italian, producers with American buyers, who especially appreciated the artistic objects still manufactured by artisans who still took inspiration from the Italian Renaissance, using techniques handed down from generation to generation.
Mrs. Gina Pestelli, wife of a Florentine retail jeweller, was in charge of contacts with Cartier USA, above all an employee, while her daughter, also for Giorgini, took care of the fashion that in those years was affirmed in Florence with the events of "Pitti ".
With their help, we began to supply frames and boxes in sterling silver gold plated with malachite and other semi-precious stones.
At the same time, the official buyer of Cartier, Mr. William Smith, began to appreciate and commission the first objects with fired enamels, a process of which we have always been specialists.
In 1975 we began exhibiting at the prestigious New York Jewellery Association Show, which we participated in both the February and July editions, for a good 26 years until 2001.
In New York in those years the "Art deco style" was still very much appreciated, still mindful of the beautiful early 20th century architecture of the great buildings such as the "Crysler" or the "Empire State".
We then began to produce frames, boxes, evening bags, "objets de vertu" and other objects in "art deco style" which were very popular with Mr. Smith who gave us some photocopies of Louis Francois Cartier drawings to reproduce them. Thus, numerous cigarette cases, powder compacts, evening bags, frames and table boxes were created exclusively for Cartier USA which, at the time, had the prestigious "Silver Department" on the first floor of the Cartier store on Fifth Avenue.

The Poole Silver Company was formed in 1892 by George Poole and Edward Roche in Taunton as Poole, Roche & Co., then established as a corporation on May 21, 1895. They was in the beginning manufacturer of plated silverware and manufacturer of silver products made with electroplating techniques. In 1900 it operated in a small two-room factory at 106 Whittington Street, and later moved to 320 Whittington Street. This extraordinary and beautiful cased-box, was created in London England during the Art Deco period. Has a great provenance and was designed by the famous silversmiths and retail store of Finnigans Limited, back in the 1932. The thematic of this box is rare and very popular. Has been crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver standard with gilded interiors. The case has been made in a cushioned compact shape with eight barrels hinge and a push pressure thumb. The main panel on top is illustrated with a landscape scene and a Formula-1 racing red car, with the number L6, all realized with polychrome enamels. The reverse is embellished with engine turned guilloche decorations. This fine piece is masterfully worked with extreme details and is a very especial example for any collector, or a wonderful gift for someone special. It is in perfect preserved condition.

Antique Silver Snuff Box Hunting Scene Design - 1837

We are delighted to offer this Victorian solid silver snuff box with the maker's mark of Charles Rawlings & William Summers, London 1837.
Whilst the box's shape and initial geometric design by itself may not be of distinction, it is undeniably the marvellous hand engraving that profusely embellishes all sides of the box that truly makes this a unique snuff box.
The top lid features a monogrammed cartouche embedded within a wreath of acanthus and folate scrolls. Hidden within the design is a stag hunt scene, where a stag (on the left) is being chased by two hounds (one slightly below the stag to the right and the other on the far right).
Although impressive at first glance, it is only upon spending more time looking closer from various angles that one can fully appreciate the artistic engraving of the scene that is akin to a painting.
The scene has been carefully planned out and engraved in layers and stages such that it creates motion, emotion and captures the chaotic nature of a stag hunt.
For instance, the stag appears to be jumping out of the bushes as its left leg jumps out in the foreground whilst its right leg appears to be caught up behind another acanthus scroll.
Its facial expression is depicted with trepidation and its tongue is sticking out, yet, to retain stylistic and artistic aesthetics, its neck and head slightly tilts up following the curvature of the central cartouche without obstructing the design. The two hounds are also carefully positioned to portray their unrelenting energy and speed, the one close to the stag appearing from the right and the other prancing through the leaves from above and behind.
The interior of the snuff box is fully gilt with a beautiful rich gold tone and a presentation engraving by an MP is beautifully engraved. The layer of gold not only acts as an accent to the silver exterior but prevents the contents inside from tarnishing the silver.
Interestingly, there seems to be an original error or change in mind for the presentation as the lettering has been finely altered from "Presented by/to" which can be faintly seen depending on the angle.
Last but not least, the base of the snuff box is matched with the top and side with further acanthus embellishments and a central cartouche that depicts an architectural scene with a statue, collums and trees in the background.
By design, despite the base not being seen regularly, this snuff box has been decorated with no expenses, time or effort spared and every inch even on the base has been decorated by a skilled engraver without a single slip of the hand.
