A 19th century erotical secret box. Extremely rare erotic sculpture from the 19th century, most probably created in France, circa 1870. This is a sculptural box depicting a woman sitting on a woven wood basket. The sculpture represents a small discrete treasure chest to keep jewels. It was masterfully crafted from pieces of cream and brown wood carvings and is fitted with a screwable part to reveal the interior. This is an outstanding object, unobtainable on the antique market and of high collecting. Other examples of these enigmatic boxes produced in the 19th Century. FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING Antique burr walnut jewellery box dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1860. The jewellery box is of rectangular form with a gently domed lid and veneered throughout in burr walnut displaying strong natural figuring across the exterior. The lid is centred by a circular brass vacant initial plaque engraved with a tulip border, repeated to the matching circular escutcheon at the front. Opening the box reveals a fitted interior lined in dark royal blue cushioned velvet with contrasting cream ruched velvet to the lid finished with gold tooling. The inner lid releases to form a drop down compartment accessed via a small tab and latch mechanism, providing additional concealed storage. The removable upper tray is arranged with multiple jewellery partitions together with parallel twin ring or cufflink holders. Victorian Circa 1870 From our Writing Boxes collection, we are thrilled to introduce this Satinwood and Biscuit Porcelain Stationery Box. The Stationery Box of rectangular shape with a slanted top lid veneered in golden Satinwood with a convex plinth base, Tulipwood inlay and gilt brass flowers. The exterior of the Stationery Box is beautifully finished with three Wedgwood Jasper biscuit porcelain style plaques bearing classical scenes including the Three Graces, Bellerophon watering Pegasus and the Dancing Hours. Each of the scenes are framed in gilt brass and finished with gilded brass ropework surrounding a draped brass escutcheon. The interior of the Stationery Box is partitioned ready for stationery and paperwork and features the makers mark on a plaque to the rear for Trussell Brighton. The Jewellery Box of rectangular form veneered in exotic Coromandel and edged in brass with a circular brass vacant initial plaque to the lid framed in double stringing and matching circular brass barrel escutcheon to the front. The exterior of the Jewellery Box is finished with double brass stringing framing the front and top panel. When opened the Jewellery Box reveals an inner reversible mirror which can be removed to access document storage in the rear. The document storage is signed with a gold impressed mark for Manufactures Thomas and George Austin of Dublin. To the top of the Jewellery Box is a removable partitioned tray lined in royal blue silk water paper with cushioned velvet pads including ring and/or cufflink storage.
