A Very Unusual and Large French Pink/Peach Opaline Floral Enamel Decorated Ormolu Mounted Box. This large rectangular box is formed in an elongated octagonal shape with chamfered corners and a hinged lid. The body is crafted from pink to peach-toned opaline glass, its surface decorated with an overall diapered pattern of raised panels. Each recessed diamond panel is adorned with hand-painted enamel floral sprays, consisting of white petals tipped with blue and accented with green foliage. The decoration is consistently arranged across all surfaces, including the lid and sides, giving the box a uniform appearance. The lid opens on a hinge to reveal a polished opaline interior of the same peach tone, framed with a band of gilded ormolu. A wide ormolu mount encircles the midsection, serving as both hinge and clasp support. This mount is chased with a repetitive foliate design, forming a textured surface that contrasts with the smooth opaline glass. The mount’s gilding provides structural reinforcement and adds a decorative metallic border between the upper and lower sections of the box. Gilt bronze and Sèvres style porcelain Louis XVI style casket on stand This magnificent Louis XVI style ormolu casket is supported by a mirror-topped table stand, which sits on four tapered, fluted legs connected by a curving X-form stretcher. In the centre of this stretcher is an ormolu urn decorated with rams heads, four hoof feet and birds on the top. The legs of the table are also ornately decorated with draped garlands and scrolled detailing. The apron is inset with Sèvres style porcelain plaques depicting scenes of cherubs and children in landscapes as well as decorative floral detailing, and is surmounted with laurel leaf mounts. The casket itself is of oval architectural form, and is set on fourteen small feet. It features further porcelain plaques depicting cherubs, musical instruments and a central oval portrait of Queen Marie Antoinette within a crowned gilt cartouche. Her portrait is flanked by two cherubs and is sat within a decorative royal blue border, matching the turquoise colored borders of the other plaques. The reverse of the casket is similarly decorated and features a painted plaque of her husband King Louis XVI. The plaques are separated by mounted ormolu columns decorated with crowns and draped laurel leaves, and each column is surmounted by floral crowns. Each curved side of the casket features an ormolu mask of a female figure, and the hinged lid is surmounted by two reclining female figures wearing draped dresses and holding a central crown. The casket opens at the lid to reveal a velvet interior. There is an inscription below the portrait of Marie Antoinette which spuriously reads ‘This casket formerly property of Marie Antoinette, presented to my beloved wife as souvenir of our European tour / Sept 8th 1886 / Louis L...

Presenting a gorgeous French 19th century Samson Paris Porcelain Trinket Box probably by Edme Samson. Marked on the base with “Made in France” and unmistakably in the style and manner of Samson. The lid features hand painted floral bouquets on an ivory porcelain background with gold edging, surrounded by a sky blue lid with gold web or crackling effect.. The lid is hinged and the lid and base are edged in floral gilt metal mounts with Fleur De Lis clasp. It sits on 4 gilt metal or ormolu feet. The sides are likewise hand decorated. This wonderful antique hand painted box is just bursting with History. Inspired by Edme Samson of Samson & Co., Paris. we believe (based upon the markings and natural aging) that it was made between 1880– 1890 in France and was meant to resemble an antique of a much earlier period. It is very similar to Sevres pieces with it’s color, decoration and design. Samson specialized in reproducing antiques from the 1600 and 1700s. One of his most interesting works was his Heraldic or Armorial pieces. With this medium sized box, he was not only copying the larger porcelain caskets or coffin boxes...

A Very Large French Antique Baccarat Hand Diamond Cut Crystal Oval Shaped Casket/Jewelry Box with Fine Dore Bronze Mounts, late 1800's The casket has an oval crystal body with a hinged lid, both sections formed with a continuous prismatic diamond cut pattern. The surface features tightly arranged, raised diamond points that cover the entire exterior, including the domed lid and the vertical sides. This cut pattern produces a uniform geometric texture, and the top edge of the lid follows the same oval outline as the base. The bottom has a radiating star cut, formed by elongated linear cuts arranged from the center outward, creating a defined pattern across the full width of the oval footprint. The mounts are structured as a single continuous dore bronze band encircling the rim of the lid and the rim of the lower body. The band contains a repeating vertical leaf pattern along its outer surface, bordered at the top and bottom by plain linear strips. The front is fitted with a shaped escutcheon that displays a symmetrical foliate design surrounding an oval keyhole. The hinge is fully integrated into the bronze band, allowing the lid to open along the upper rim. All mounts are flush to the crystal and form a tight structural frame around the opening of the casket. This piece is manufactured by Baccarat, known for thick crystal, weight, and sharply executed cut surfaces and specially the Star Cut on the bottom. The clarity and uniformity of the diamond cut pattern, the defined star cut on the underside, and the quality of the dore bronze mounts indicate high production standards. The oval form, continuous surface cutting, and fitted bronze band are characteristic of Baccarat caskets...
