An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique George V English sterling silver and enamel Art Deco candlesticks; an addition to our antique silverware collection These exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V sterling silver piano candlesticks have a plain tapering square form onto a circular spreading base. The cylindrical capitals are each embellished with a band of guilloche enamel to a plain circular sconce. The capitals are supported by square tapering columns, ornamented with black enamel panels and accented with impressive Art Deco silver motif to one side. The geometric designs are embellished with eighteen pavé set marcasites. The base of each Art Deco piano candle holder is ornamented with further guilloche enamel, to a plain collet style rim. This three-piece set—composed of a clock and a pair of flanking candelabra—is a truly unique and delightful piece of decorative art. This pair of 37 cm high three-light candelabras features scrolls at the top and base of the shaft, constructed directly as a base in a "water foam" design. The white color of these models is dotted with black alveoli that contrast with the clear enamel. The technique used to achieve this effect was to add chemical compounds to the enamel. Depending on the chosen dosage, this created variations in the size and depth of the craters. Late 19th c., France, a pair of Napoleon III gilt bronze and champlevé candelabra. Four neoclassical column supports are surmounted by five candle cups, on an enamel decorated plinth. Both are unmarked. The beautifully decorated square base is delicately referenced in the square elements under the candle cups and between the column supports. These candelabras are of superb quality. The four champlevé panels on the sides of each base are beautifully executed. The direction of the design alternates around the sides of each candelabra. Champlevé Enameling: A decorative technique that fuses a powdered glassy material into a recess in a metal surface through the application of heat. Dimensions: 9.5"h x 9"squ Condition: Good, some areas of wear to gilding with spots of verdigris and wax residue. The enamel is well preserved.
