Vincenti et Cie, established in 1823 by Jean Vincenti in Montbéliard, was revitalized by Albert Roux in 1829, who expanded and innovated the company. Under Roux's leadership, the firm continued its Montbéliard operations and opened a store in Paris in 1850 on Rue d'Anjou in the Marais. The company earned a silver medal (Médaille d'Argent) at the 1855 Exposition Universelle, for which this clock bears the mark "Médaille d'Argent, 1855," symbolizing its excellent craftsmanship. The clock to the left with cast bezel, silvered dial, Roman numerals, original steel hands, engraved to centre and signed ‘J.H.Steward, 54 Cornhill 406 and 66 Strand & 456 West Strand, London. The aneroid barometer with bevelled glass with brass cast bezel and engraved silvered dial. Five weather indications, the scale marked from 26 to 31 inches of mercury and central setting knob for the pointer. Centrally mounted spiral mercury thermometer with silvered, engraved scale for Centigrade and Fahrenheit. Royal House Antiques Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this one of a kind, fully restored, hand carved antique English longcase grandfather clock case depicting a King’s Sovereign portrait Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, it covers within the M25 only for the UK and local Europe only for international, if you would like an accurate quote please send me your postcode and I’ll provide you with the exact price What a find, I purchased this piece maybe 8-10 years ago and it has sat waiting all this time for restoration, whomever removed the clock movement did so with little care and damaged the top of the piece, as such it has been fully restored to gallery condition and is now ready to accommodate a new movement I saved this piece because clearly the carving is very old and was conducted by an exceedingly fine craftsman, the Sovereign portrait of a King is very Regal and adds a sense of occasion to such a piece, the case is also decorated with what looks like English Tudor Rose...
