Vincenti et Cie, established in 1823 by Jean Vincenti in Montbéliard, was revitalized by Albert Roux in 1829, who expanded and innovated the company. Under Roux's leadership, the firm continued its Montbéliard operations and opened a store in Paris in 1850 on Rue d'Anjou in the Marais. What a find, I purchased this piece maybe 8-10 years ago and it has sat waiting all this time for restoration, whomever removed the clock movement did so with little care and damaged the top of the piece, as such it has been fully restored to gallery condition and is now ready to accommodate a new movement
I saved this piece because clearly the carving is very old and was conducted by an exceedingly fine craftsman, the Sovereign portrait of a King is very Regal and adds a sense of occasion to such a piece, the case is also decorated with what looks like English Tudor Rose...
