A stunning and very high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and Rouge Griotte marble clock signed Raingo Frères. The clock is raised by two elegant rectangular reeded supports at the front and circular spiral fluted feet behind below striking richly chased elongated rosettes centering a fine pierced fitted intertwined laurel branch also repeated at the rounded sides. At the center is an impressive pierced fitted ormolu mount with Rinceau shaped scrolled acanthus leaves and berried laurel garlands flanked by striking fluted columns with fitted decorative ormolu chandelles and stunning lightly curved richly chased cornucopias with ribbons at each side. The enamel dial displays Roman numeral hour markings and Arabic numeral minute markings with elegant pierced foliate ormolu hands framed within an elegant mottled bezel with foliate and beaded designs. Above is the remarkable top crown a richly chased berried laurel wreath, a quiver, arrows, a bow and the eternal flame all tied with a flowing ribbon and displaying a wonderful satin and burnished finish. An important and rare French Empire gilt bronze mantel clock depicting "Venus Guided by Love" featuring a case by the noted bronzier Lesieur. The figures and clock plinth sit on a rectangular green marble base topped with a gilt bronze plinth, raised upon four flattened toupie feet. The round enamel dial, signed “Lesieur à Paris”, indicates the Roman numeral hours and minute graduations. It is housed in a finely chased bronze altar whose pediment is decorated with egg and dart friezes, and be-ribboned torches on either side the façade is adorned with applied stylized butterfly and lyre motifs. A spectacular and extremely high quality French early 19th century Louis XVI st. white Carrara marble and ormolu clock, signed Simona à Paris, circa 1819. The clock is raised by six elegant topie shaped feet below the exceptional and most decorative scallop shaped white Carrara marble base. The base displays an exceptional stepped design and beautiful pierced baluster like wrap around ormolu gallery with a fine twisted ribbon fillet and central rosette. A substantial and highly decorative French mantel clock dating to the late 19th century, circa 1890, fitted with a mechanical movement by the renowned French maker Japy Frères. The imposing architectural case is richly modelled in the Baroque Revival taste, with elaborate scrolling foliage, floral ornament, pierced decorative sections and an impressive classical female mask forming the upper crest. The lower section is centred by a heraldic shield surrounded by elaborate scrolling ornament. The case is made from a gilt copper-alloy metal, most likely bronze or brass. The original gilded surface has considerably mellowed with age, leaving a warm darker bronze-gold tone and attractive natural patina throughout. The exact alloy has not been analytically tested. The circular dial combines a decorative metal centre with Roman numeral hour markers and retains its antique character. Both the original front glass and the glazed rear door are present. The French two-train movement bears the Japy Frères medallion. Japy Frères was one of the most important French manufacturers of clock movements during the 19th century. The clock was tested and is currently running. The original pendulum is included; no winding key is supplied. Details: Dimensions: Height 50 cm (19.7 in.); Width 28 cm (11.0 in.); Depth 14 cm (5.5 in.) Weight - 7.5kg Condition: Very good antique condition overall. The case shows natural age-related patina, oxidation and considerable wear/loss to the original gilded surface, giving the metal its present darker bronze-gold appearance. No significant structural damage to the case has been observed. Original front and rear glass are preserved. The clock was tested and is running at the time of listing.
