Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze and Crystal Mantel Clock Garniture

About the Item

This fine garniture is of the spirit and period of the Belle Epoque It is certainly Belle, the barrel movement is supported by an extremely elegant acanthus and leaf-form frame, and surmounted by a classical vase with draping swag. The pendulum is modeled with the emblematic symbol of the Sun King. The swagged platform base is molded, rectangular and supported on short cabriole supports. Flanking this exquisite clock is the matching pair of urns supporting cut lead-crystal shallow bowls. The porcelain dial is enamelled with Roman numerals, the hands are gilt and pierced. The entire set is in unusually good condition.
