A elegant Dunhill France, amboyna cased cigar humidor casket, dating from the second hald of the 20th Century. The humidor has a Spanish cedar-lined interior which helps to keep the aroma and is equipped with Passatore humidification system. The humidor has a very stylish & timeless design and would make any cigar connoisseur happy. Complete with working lock and key. The grain texture is one of the most seldom and exclusive on earth. The burls are often very small, which is why the sheets of veneer come in small dimensions. The colours range from deep yellowish-orange to dark red. After finishing the surface, the grain texture of amboyna wood has a depth and richness unmatched in other textured woods. Humidor is any kind of box or room with constant humidity that is used to store cigars, cigarettes, orpipe tobacco. For private use, small wooden or acrylic glass humidor boxes for a few dozen cigars are used, while cigar shops may have walk-in humidors. Humidors can be used to store other goods for which a certain level of humidity is desirable; the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball team stores game balls in a large humidor at their home stadium, Coors Field, to counteract the effects of Denver's high altitude and generally low humidity. This is a magnificent antique French Kingwood and amboyna, ormolu-mounted cigar humidor, circa 1870 in date. This splendid humidor features an inset glass top engraved with a bouquet of flowers and an inset glass front beautifully engraved with an oriental landscaped with a Chinese figure smoking a pipe. The interior encloses three adjustable shelves fitted for cigars.. Ormolu griffin mounts frame the casket which sits on a scalloped base with ormolu griffin feet.
